Este artigo dá a conhecer o funcionamento, organização e constituição da primeira Comissão de Censura (1945-1952), órgão criado pelo Estado Novo para fiscalizar os espetáculos em Portugal. O texto é elaborado a partir da análise das atas da sessões desta Comissão, resultando desta perquisa o conhecimento sobre o funcionamento interno, a regularidade com que reunia, constituição, critérios de censura, filmes censurados e deliberações. O estudo permite também identificar os censores, referenciá-los biograficamente, assim como os tíulos aprovados e reprovados ao longo da vigência do orgão.
