Objetivo. Evaluar el efecto del amamantamiento restringido (AR) sobre parámetros de crecimiento (peso ajustado (PA) y ganancia de peso diaria (GPD), condición corporal (CC) y puntaje de FAMACHA® (FA) durante la lactancia y pos-destete en ovejas de pelo colombiano (OPC). Materiales y métodos. 76 OPC con crías, fueron asignados a uno de dos tratamientos. Tratamiento 1 (T1), corderos con amamantamiento continuo (AC): 24 horas con la madre (n= 38). Tratamiento 2 (T2), amamantamiento restringido (AR), 10 horas (n=38). Se realizaron mediciones cada 30 días desde el nacimiento hasta los 210 días con destete a los 90 días. Fue evaluado el PA, la GPD, la CC y el FA, analizándose los datos con un modelo lineal de efectos fijos y medidas repetidas y prueba de Tukey–Kramer. Resultados. Los PA antes de los 60 días no variaron significativamente entre T1 y T2. Luego del destete y hasta el final del experimento, los PA fueron significativamente (p<0.001) mayores en T2. Las GPD promedio pre-destete no variaron entre T1 y T2 (p=0.053). La GPD pos-destete varió significativamente (p<0.001) entre T1 y T2 (82.38±17.4 y 123.95±20.6 gr/día respectivamente). Luego del destete la CC fue más alta (p<0.001) en los corderos en T2. No se encontraron diferencias en FA durante la lactancia. Luego del destete, T2 presentó mejor calificación (p<0.001). Conclusiones. T1 y T2, presentaron el mismo desempeño al destete. Sin embargo, las diferencias desde el destete hasta los siete meses de edad fueron a favor de los corderos sometidos a T2.
El estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar el comportamiento productivo y las características de la canal en ovinos de pelo criollo (OPC) y los cruces F1 Dorper x OPC en Córdoba, Colombia. Se utilizaron 25 corderos (14 F1 Dorper x OPC y 11 OPC), siendo 9 machos y 16 hembras, manejados en un sistema de semi estabulación y suplementados con una mezcla de semilla de algodón y maíz molido. Los corderos fueron faenados los 6.5 meses de edad aproximadamente. Se determinó el efecto del sexo, tipo de parto (simple, mellicero) y tipo racial. Dentro del comportamiento productivo, solo se encontró diferencia significativa en la ganancia de peso predestete (p<0.05) para el sexo y tipo racial. Las características de la canal fueron significativas para el efecto tipo racial, la relación ancho grupa/longitud pierna, perímetro de la pierna y de la grupa, ancho de la grupa, de la cadera y de la pierna, área del ojo del lomo, y ancho y profundidad del lomo. Se concluye que los animales F1 presentaron mejor desempeño que los OPC para las características de crecimiento y de la canal.
Objetivo. Describir el crecimiento en ovinos de Pelo Colombiano (OPC) mediante la utilización del modelo Richards. Materiales y métodos. Se obtuvieron 2.086 registros procedente de pesajes realizados cada 30 días en ovinos OPC desde el nacimiento hasta el sacrificio, con destete a los 90 días, adicional se tuvo en cuenta el sexo (S), tipo de parto (TP) y la época de nacimiento (Época) de los animales. Los datos fueron analizados con el modelo Richards utilizando el procedimiento NLIN del SAS. Resultados. La estimación del peso asintótico indicado por el parámetro A para los machos fue 7.8 kg superior al de las hembras; en el TP este mismo parámetro indico un 22% de superioridad entre los nacimientos simples y múltiples, por último, en la variable Eponac los pesajes de mejor valor correspondieron a la época de lluvia con 5 Kg más que los animales nacidos en época seca. Para el parámetro K los valores de referencia oscilan entre 0.001 y 0.004 en las variables S, TP y Eponac; al igual que la correlación entre los parámetros A y K los valores se encuentran entre -0.98 y -0.99 en todas las variables estudiadas. Conclusiones. El modelo Richards explico el desarrollo de los animales y permitió observar el efecto de las variables S, TP y Eponac evidenciando en cada una de estas un crecimiento lento, pero con pesos altos a la madurez.
Se evaluó y comparó la eficacia de la analgesia preventiva y los efectos cardiopulmonares de morfina o metadona en conejos sometidos a cirugía cutánea experimental. Treinta y seis conejos fueron asignados al azar a tres grupos experimentales: Control, Morfina y Metadona. Los conejos recibieron midazolam 1 mg/kg vía IM asociado a: placebo (NaCl 0.9%) 0.05 ml/kg, metadona 0.5 mg/kg o morfina 0.5 mg/kg, según el grupo experimental. La anestesia fue inducida y mantenida con isoflurano. La frecuencia cardíaca (FC) y respiratoria (fR), la saturación periférica de oxígeno (SpO2), la presión arterial media (PAM) y la temperatura corporal se evaluaron cada 10 minutos. Se realizó examen electrocardiográfico después de la sedación, en el trans y posoperatorio inmediato. Después del procedimiento, el grupo control recibió tramadol 5 mg/kg vía IV. La analgesia posoperatoria fue evaluada mediante la escala analógica visual (VAS) y la respuesta a estímulos con filamentos de Von-Frey. Todas las variables se compararon entre los grupos mediante ANOVA o Friedman. Metadona y morfina causaron aumento de PAM (p=0.0112) y reducción de la fR (p=0.0001). La fR y la SpO2 se redujeron en el grupo de metadona (p=0.0100). La respuesta a los filamentos de Von-Frey (p=0.6824) y la VAS (p=0.7661) fueron similares entre tratamientos, sin embargo, el grupo control presentó una mayor proporción de rescate analgésico (33%) en comparación con la morfina (19%) y la metadona (12%). Las variables electrocardiográficas fueron similares entre tratamientos (p>0.05). En conclusión, el tratamiento preventivo con morfina o metadona resultó eficaz para controlar el dolor trans y posoperatorio en conejos y sus efectos cardiovasculares fueron limitados; sin embargo, la metadona ocasionó depresión respiratoria marcada.
