O presente artigo versa sobre o tema de Responsabilidade Social Corporativa, tendo em vista os impactos sociais e ambientais proporcionados e as cifras envolvidas pela mesma no Brasil e no mundo. A problemática do estudo é: como as empresas orientam seus investimentos sociais e de que maneira as populações impactadas pelas atividades operacionais são consideradas na tomada de decisão para a aplicação de tais investimentos. Foram considerados dois casos relevantes no cenário brasileiro, sendo eles a Bracell e a Vale. Como metodologia, foi escolhido o estudo de casos múltiplos e foram constatados impactos relevantes e distintos em cada caso. As empresas estudadas neste trabalho vêm planejando seus programas e projetos para atender demandas do território, sempre considerando as comunidades afetadas direta e indiretamente e obtendo resultados importantes. Com base na pesquisa, está sendo desenvolvido um diagnóstico que será a matéria-prima para a construção de uma ferramenta de gestão social, além de uma fonte de informação sobre o território estudado quanto ao seu desenvolvimento socioeconômico e possibilidades de investimentos.
