El biochar es una alternativa de acción climática, accesible, de bajo costo y sostenible. Su aplicación como enmienda permite incrementar la fertilidad del suelo y reducir las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero como el CO 2. Por ende, es necesario implementar el biochar como tecnología de emisión negativa frente al cambio climático, disminuir los impactos negativos en el ambiente y salvaguardar la salud de las personas. La investigación es una revisión de literatura holística y sistemática disponible sobre el uso del biochar como estrategia de mitigación, debido a su capacidad de secuestro de carbono, y sobre el potencial de sus aplicaciones e interacciones que presenta con el clima, la seguridad alimentaria y los componentes del ecosistema. Se encontró que el potencial de secuestro de carbono presentado por el biochar en equivalencias de CO 2 supera las 20 GtCO 2 eq por año. Esto es muy significativo en la búsqueda de tecnologías de emisiones negativas eficientes que ayuden a reducir las emisiones de CO 2 que generan las actividades antropogénicas anualmente.
La biosorción de metales pesados utilizando residuos agrícolas resulta ser una técnica eficiente para la descontaminación de los ríos. Por ello, se evaluó la biosorción de Pb (II) utilizando cascarilla de café como biosorbente. Para la biosorción, se utilizó un sistema batch, a temperatura ambiente 22,5 °C, agitación 300 rpm, así como, el biosorbente, la cascarilla de café la cual fue lavada, secada, triturada y tamizada a 212 μm. La densidad aparente (DA) se halló empleando una probeta; humedad por diferencia de pesos; Punto de carga cero (PZC) por diferencia de pH y grupos funcionales por espectrofotometría infrarroja (FTIR). El Pb (II) se determinó por espectrofotometría de absorción atómica. Los resultados mostraron que se obtuvo un valor de DA de 0,50 ± 0,004 g/mL; humedad 7,18 ± 0,152 %; PZC 2,20. Los grupos funcionales fueron (C=O) aldehídos y cetonas; (O-H) hidroxilo o moléculas de agua; (C-H) alcanos; (C-O) carboxilo; (C-N) grupo amino y (C-O-C) éteres. El pH favorable fue 2,0 y la dosis de biosorbente 0,5 g. Se logró el equilibrio en 10 min con eficiencia de remoción de Pb (II) de 96,45 ± 0,023 %. Predominó el modelo de pseudo-segundo orden (R2 = 0,9999). En la muestra de agua del río Rímac se removió Pb (II) en un 66,18 ± 0,95 %. En síntesis, el pH favorable está relacionado con el diagrama de Pourbaix y se observa un mecanismo de quelación, mientras que la baja concentración inicial de Pb (II) permite acelerar el tiempo de remoción y lograr el equilibrio. La muestra real mostró alta remoción a pesar de factores fisico-químicos presentes en el agua. El uso de la cascarilla de café como biosorbente representa una alternativa ecoamigable y sostenible en el tiempo.
Los accidentes laborales se han convertido en uno de los desafíos más importantes de abordar por parte de las organizaciones. Es urgente tomar medidas para evitar seguir teniendo pérdidas en términos de recurso humano y económico. Durante las últimas décadas se ha considerado a la Seguridad Basada en el Comportamiento (SBC) como una metodología eficaz orientada a determinar los antecedentes que conducen a los comportamientos de riesgo. Se enfoca en fomentar una cultura preventiva en seguridad evitando accidentes y enfermedades ocupacionales en el lugar en trabajo. El estudio está orientado a la revisión sistemática de la literatura disponible sobre los aspectos claves para la gestión e implementación de la SBC, así como los hallazgos que se han encontrado tras su aplicación. Se empleó palabras claves en buscadores de bases de datos y solo se consideró los más relevantes en idioma inglés. Se encontró cinco elementos comunes para la SBC, asimismo, en más del 90% de los estudios se mostró una mejora sustancial gracias a este programa. La SBC presenta un enfoque general para abordar el tema de los comportamientos subestándares. La SBC también, ayuda a fortalecer las actividades planificadas por la organización en materia de seguridad cambiando los actos inseguros a seguros.
El brote de la enfermedad por Coronavirus Covid-19, ha traído consigo efectos secundarios sin precedentes en especial en el manejo de residuos sólidos, agravándose más en países en desarrollo. El presente estudio es una revisión sistemática de la literatura. De un total de 825 publicaciones de ScienceDirect, Scopus, y Wos, se consideraron 60 artículos científicos e informes más relevantes sobre los efectos del Covid-19 en el manejo de residuos. Se evidenció un comportamiento exponencial en la generación de residuos enfocado en el uso del plástico. Las directrices emitidas por organismos internacionales y principales países afectados hacen hincapié en el uso de EPP, higiene, desinfección y rotulado de residuos, así como un sistema especial de manejo bajo estas condiciones. La literatura evidenció que los impactos del Covid-19 afectaron directamente los procesos de segregación, reciclaje y eliminación, producto de la generación y técnicas de eliminación. El tiempo de supervivencia del virus en los fómites es de pocas horas e incluso supera los siete días, siendo un problema para el manejo. Los desafíos que trae consigo la pandemia están orientados a desarrollar políticas de descentralizar el manejo, la automatización y la consideración de la desinfección química e incineración como alternativas viables de tratamiento.
