Introducción: las Ciencias de la Salud constituyen una rama de la ciencia de gran interés social y económico, por lo que, un análisis bibliométrico de las revistas científicas afines a optometría en Colombia puede aportar a mejorar el nivel de la investigación en este campo. Objetivo general de la investigación: reconocer el comportamiento bibliométrico de las revistas científicas afines a Optometría, publicadas en Colombia, durante el periodo 2014 – 2019. Materiales y métodos: se llevó a cabo un análisis bibliométrico descriptivo-retrospectivo con corte transversal de 241 publicaciones realizadas en las cinco revistas científicas afines a Optometría existentes en el país. Resultados: se halló que el área temática prevalente en los artículos revisados fue Diagnóstico y Tratamiento. Es preponderante la multi autoría de 2 a 5 autores. Las revistas poseen aislamientos altos. Las citas en otro idioma diferente al español superaron el 50% en todas las revistas analizadas. El diseño específico más utilizado fue el descriptivo de corte transversal. Tipo de documento más empleado fue investigación. El descriptor con mayor aparición fue Retina. Conclusión: se pude afirmar que en Colombia existen pocos estudios bibliométricos en el área de Optometría; en el país, se ha logrado desarrollar un grupo de revistas que dan visibilidad a los resultados de investigaciones hechas, principalmente, a nivel nacional. Estás investigaciones y, por ende, los artículos resultantes de ellas pueden ser mejorados en cuanto a niveles de apertura, diseño de investigación y actualización de fuentes de citación.
<p align="justify"><em>Introducción</em>: la telemedicina es una alternativa de atención en salud que permite eliminar las barreras de acceso que impiden el desplazamiento y la valoración oportuna de los usuarios por los profesionales de la salud, a través del intercambio de datos mediante el uso de las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación (TIC). Uno de sus campos de aplicación es la teleoptometría, rama de la salud visual que se encuentra incursionando en el campo de la telemedicina y que ha sido poco explorada en el ámbito mundial. <em>Objetivo</em>: proponer el concepto de teleoptometría, definiendo sus alcances, usos y posibles limitaciones legales, económicas, administrativas y asistenciales. <em>Métodos</em>: se desarrolló una investigación cualitativa, hermenéutica y analítica, por medio de una indagación bibliográfica en bases de datos y buscadores académicos y un trabajo de campo con la aplicación de entrevistas a optómetras. <em>Resultados</em>: a partir de la búsqueda bibliográfica se identificó la ausencia del concepto de teleoptometría y una escasa aplicación, en comparación con la teleoftalmología. En el trabajo de campo, la mayoría de los entrevistados no tienen claridad del concepto de teleoptometría; sin embargo, proyectan posibles alcances y plantean ciertas limitaciones. <em>Conclusiones</em>: la teleoptometría se encarga del cuidado primario ocular, la detección de patologías del segmento anterior y alteraciones visuales, lo que permite un diagnóstico oportuno, el tratamiento y la rehabilitación, por medio del empleo de las TIC, con previas capacitaciones a profesionales y técnicos.</p>
Antecedentes: En Colombia, el ejercicio liberal de la odontología inició un proceso de transformación a partir de la creación del Sistema General de Seguridad Social en Salud en 1993. Ello significó una reducción de las áreas de acción profesional como ejercicio privado, algo que podría verse más afectado con la expedición de la Resolución 2292 de 2021 del Ministerio de Salud que, dentro del Plan de Beneficios en Salud (PBS), incluye nuevos procedimientos de salud oral a ser financiados por el Estado. Objetivo: Analizar cómo afecta la inclusión de nuevos procedimientos de salud oral en el PBS el ejercicio de la odontología. Métodos: Se realizó una investigación cualitativa de tipo estudio de caso intrínseco documental y analítico, con base en el contexto y las normas legales que rigen el ejercicio de la odontología en Colombia. Hallazgos: La práctica clínica de la odontología se realizará principalmente de forma institucionalizada. Esto debe llevar a cambios en la cultura del gremio que lo orienten hacia la asociación profesional y clínica para, de esta forma, afrontar los retos que trae la inserción de casi todas las áreas de la profesión dentro del PBS. Conclusión: El ejercicio liberal de la odontología se irá viendo más limitado dado el avance de la garantía del derecho fundamental a la salud. Por ello, es imperiosa la gestión asociativa como base para garantizar la atención en salud en forma ética y a costos que hagan viable la existencia de las clínicas y consultorios que contraten con las Entidades Promotoras de Salud.
Introducción: el desarrollo de aplicaciones móviles en el campo de la salud ha tenido un gran auge, del cual no ha sido ajeno el cuidado de la salud visual. Objetivo: realizar una revisión de la literatura publicada entre 2013 y 2019, referente al diseño y desarrollo de aplicaciones para dispositivos móviles que tengan respaldo en publicaciones científicas, y que pueden apoyar en el ejercicio profesional de la optometría y la oftalmología. Metodología: revisión de literatura de artículos en español e inglés, publicados entre 2013 y 2019, en las bases de datos, en la Biblioteca Virtual en Salud, Medline, Ebsco, Pubmed, Science Direct, Scopus, SciELO, Embase, Springer Journal, Dialnet. Las palabras clave que se usaron para la búsqueda fueron: mhealth, visual health, teleoptometry, e-health, TIC, mobile application visual health, online learning optrometry, mobile optometry technology. Resultados: se evidenciaron pocas aplicaciones en el área de salud visual que estuvieran soportadas en publicaciones científicas. La mayoría de las aplicaciones encontradas son prototipos y aún no han sido utilizadas por los usuarios. Conclusiones: las aplicaciones pueden llegar a transformar la atención en salud visual; sin embargo, falta aún mayor investigación y desarrollo de este tipo de herramientas. La cooperación entre optómetras, oftalmólogos e ingenieros de sistemas es necesaria para impulsar su desarrollo
