ABSTRACT:In this study, we seek to understand how intertextuality is constructed in memes that circulate on Facebook and what meanings are constructed from these texts. For this, we use the concept of intertextuality defined within the text studies, as well as we resorting to reflections developed by Fairclough (2001) about the intertextuality in the analysis of the textual dimension of discourse. The analysis shows us that memes are by nature intertextual, since they are constructed in answer / dialog to some other text that preceded it, may be this intertextual relationship be explicit or not, but forcing the reader to understand the meanings produced.
