RESUMO-Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a aplicação de ácido cítrico em duas concentrações, associadas ou não à quitosana, na manutenção da qualidade de lichias 'Bengal'. Após a colheita e seleção, os frutos no estádio de maturação maduro foram imersos por 1 minuto nas seguintes soluções de ácido cítrico e de quitosana: [7] ácido cítrico a 600 g L -1 + 0,6% quitosana. Após a imersão, os frutos foram colocados em gôndolas para escorrer o excesso de solução. Em seguida, foram armazenados em câmara fria, previamente higienizada, a 5°C, durante 20 dias. O experimento foi conduzido seguindo um delineamento inteiramente casualizado, num esquema fatorial composto por sete soluções de recobrimento e cinco datas de amostragem. A cada cinco dias, foi avaliada a perda de massa fresca dos frutos, a coloração, o teor de antocianinas e a atividade das enzimas polifenoloxidase e peroxidase da casca. A solução de ácido cítrico a 600 g L -1 , associada ou não à quitosana, e a combinação de quitosana 0,3% com 300 g L -1 de ácido cítrico foram as mais eficientes para a manutenção da cor avermelhada e a redução do escurecimento da casca de lichias 'Bengal' por 20 dias, a 5ºC. CITRIC ACID AND CHITOSAN IN CONSERVATION OF LITCHIS 'BENGAL'ABSTRACT -The aim of this study was to evaluate citric acid application with or without chitosan on the maintenance of the quality of litchi 'Bengal'. It was used litchi on mature maturation stage. After selection, fruits were immersed for one minute on the solution of citric acid and chitosan: were used. After immersion, fruits were put to drain the excess of solution. Then, they were stored in cool chamber at 5°C, previously sanitized, for 20 days. The experiment was conducted following a completely randomized design, with a factorial scheme composed by seven coating solutions and five sampling dates. Every five days were evaluated: loss of fresh mass of fruits; color; content of anthocyanins and the activity of peel enzymes polyphenoloxidase and peroxidase. It was verified that the solution of citric acid 600 g L -1 , associated or not to chitosan, and the combination of chitosan 0,3% to 300 g L -1 of citric acid were the most efficient to maintain the quality of litchi 'Bengal' for 20 days at 5ºC.

Cut flowers deteriorate quickly and require postharvest technologies to increase their durability, which is usually around 8 days. Due to the scarce information related to postharvest physiology of Alstroemeria cut flowers, this study aimed to verify the best dose of 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) to the postharvest conservation of inflorescences of Alstroemeria cv. Ajax, considering the factors associated with floral senescence and loss of the decorative life. The stems were submitted to four doses of 1-MCP (0; 100; 250; 500 ppb), then placed in containers with distilled water and stored at room temperature (22 ºC). The treatments were performed in triplicate containing three stems per replicate. The evaluations were performed every three days for a total of 12 days of storage. An F test was conducted, and the means were compared by the Tukey test (p≤0.05). Among the applied treatments the dose of 500 ppb of 1-MCP reduces the loss of water of the stems of alstroemerias during the storage period, keeping the petals turgids and the levels of carotenoids and anthocyanins high, however, this was not enough to keep the decorative quality of the flowers, once the 1-MCP did not solve the problems of yellowing of the leaves and floral openning, which are important characteristics for its commercialization.Index terms: Ethylene; longevity; pigments; enzyme activity. RESUMOAs flores de corte se deterioram muito rapidamente e necessitam de tecnologias pós-colheita para aumentar a durabilidade, que é normalmente em torno de 8 dias. Devido às escassas informações relacionadas à fisiologia pós-colheita de flores de Alstroeméria, a presente pesquisa teve como objetivo verificar qual a melhor dose de 1-metilciclopropeno (1-MCP) na conservação pós-colheita de inflorescências de Alstroemeria cv. Ajax, considerando os fatores associados à senescência floral e perda da vida decorativa. As hastes foram submetidas a quatro doses de 1-MCP (0; 100; 250; 500 ppb), posteriormente foram colocadas em recipientes com água destilada e armazenadas em temperatura de ambiente (22 ºC). Os tratamentos foram realizados em triplicata contendo três hastes por repetição. As avaliações foram realizadas a cada três dias perfazendo um total de 12 dias de armazenamento. Foi realizado um teste de F, e as médias comparadas pelo teste de Tukey (P≤0,05). Entre os tratamentos aplicados a dose de 500 ppb de 1-MCP reduziu a perda de água das hastes de alstroeméria durante o período de armazenamento, mantendo as pétalas túrgidas e os níveis de carotenoides e antocianinas altos, entretanto, isso não foi suficiente para manter a qualidade decorativa das flores, uma vez que o 1-MCP não resolveu os problemas de amarelecimento das folhas e abertura floral, que são importantes características para sua comercilização.Termos para indexação: Etileno; longevidade; pigmentos; atividade enzimática.

Reduction of spraying rate can be an alternative to reduce costs in pesticide application. The aim of this study was to evaluate the distribution of fan and droplet size with different spraying rate and concentration of adjuvant on spraying liquid of herbicide to control Ipomoea spp. on sugarcane crop. The experiment was carried out at fully randomized plots, 3 x 4 + 1 factorial scheme. The factors were application volumes (80, 130 and 180 L ha-1) preemergence application of herbicide sulfentrazone, and concentrations of adjuvant (0; 0.5; 1.5 and 4.5%). The variables were: Angle of the jet spray (degrees), flow of nozzles (L min-1), coefficient of variation of fan distribution (CV), volume median diameter (VMD), coefficient of uniformity for static nozzles (SPAN), drift (percentage of volume in droplets smaller than 200 microns) and control of Ipomoea spp. (%), analyzed with statistical process control tool (CEP). The reduction of spraying volume did not change the control of Ipomoea spp. and have resulted in standardization of the droplet size when the concentration of adjuvant in spraying liquid was bigger than 1.5%.
