O presente trabalho teve como objetivo analisar a ocorrência e o impacto do lançamento de esgoto sanitário da Bacia da Tamandaré, localizado em Belém do Pará, no seu canal de drenagem, que não possui uma estação de tratamento de esgoto e nem uma estação elevatória de esgoto que encaminhe e trate essa produção diária. O estudo foi desenvolvido em três etapas, inicialmente foi realizada a avaliação da infraestrutura de drenagem de águas pluviais e de esgotamento sanitário na área da Bacia da Tamandaré, na segunda etapa foram identificadas as tubulações e galerias que lançam esgoto sanitário no canal da Tamandaré e quantificada a vazão média de esgoto despejado e finalmente, na última etapa a avaliação dos impactos do lançamento de esgoto sanitário no funcionamento do canal. Como resultado da pesquisa, foi possível identificar o grave problema de informações no banco de dados dos órgãos responsáveis, os problemas estruturais do canal, presença de resíduos e esgoto na rede de drenagem, uma série de problemas em ambos os sistemas, além de contabilizar um total de 29 contribuições com presença de esgoto das 71 que chegam e quantificando a vazão de esgoto que chega ao canal de 2.383,05 m³/dia, o que equivale a 11,12% do volume útil do canal. Concluindo, os principais impactos ocasionados no canal pelo despejo de esgoto foram a ocupação de volume útil do canal, vegetação e sedimentos do esgoto ocupando volume, contribui para a inundações do canal e o risco de proliferação de doenças, como a leptospirose, causadas pelo contato desse efluente. Portanto, foi comprovada a real necessidade de investimento no sistema de esgotamento sanitário na área da Bacia da Tamandaré que sobrecarrega o sistema de drenagem que já é deficitário.
Este trabalho analisa a sustentabilidade da prestação dos serviços do Sistema de Abastecimento de Água (SAA) do município de Belém, estado do Pará, Brasil. A pesquisa foi realizada em três etapas. Na primeira delas, foram obtidas informações do planejamento do sistema existente, em seguida, foram pesquisados e sistematizados dados técnicos, operacionais e econômicos da prestação do serviço e, por fim, avaliou-se a sustentabilidade econômica, social e ambiental do abastecimento de água no município de Belém. Os resultados apontam que, dos 1.485.732 habitantes belenenses, 441.309 dos não foram atendidos com abastecimento de água no ano 2018 segundo os dados do Sistema Nacional de Informações Sobre Saneamento (SNIS). Além disso, constatou-se que a redução do volume perdido de água não foi realizada como estabelecido no Plano Municipal de Saneamento Básico (PMSB) elaborado em 2014. Essa situação contribuiu para a diferença negativa de R$ 32.726.900,76 entre o valor total arrecadado (R$ 161.550.822,88) e a despesa de exploração (R$ 194.277.723,64) no ano de 2018, demonstrando que a prestação do serviço não teve sustentabilidade econômica. Diante disso, é possível concluir que a atualização do PMSB de Belém e a realização de ações para melhorar a gestão operacional são essenciais para o esforço de atingir a meta de 99% da população de Belém atendida com água potável até o ano 2033, conforme estabelecido na Lei 14.026/2020.
