INTERACTIONS BETWEEN ADJUVANT AND HYDRAULIC NOZZLES IN THE CONTROL OF GLYPHOSATE DRIFTABSTRACT: The aim of this work was to analyze the interactions between adjuvant and the hydraulic nozzle in glyphosate drift control. Firstly, the droplet spectrum was evaluated using a completely randomized design (DIC) in a split plot, evaluating four application solutions (plots): water; water + mineral oil; water + glyphosate; water + mineral oil + glyphosate and three nozzle spray models (subplots): simple (SL); double (DL) and double with air induction (DLI), with six repetitions. The diameter of the volumetric median was determined; droplet density; relative amplitude and the potential risk of drift. In the following stage the drift was quantified in a wind tunnel, using the sub-subdivided DIC, being evaluated the four application solutions (parcels), the three nozzle spray models (subplots), in two wind speeds (sub-plots): 1.0 and 2.0 m s-1, with four repetitions. Regardless of the application solution, the DL tip presented the highest drift values, followed by SL and DLI, respectively. The application solution water + mineral oil + glyphosate, provided the lowest drift values for all hydraulic tips evaluated. The interaction of glyphosate with mineral oil, applied with the DLI tip, has the potential to reduce drift in the field.
HIGHLIGHTS Adjuvants must be used according to the nozzle model, application method, and spray mixture. The empty cone nozzle with induction had the smallest increase the drift of 2,4-D with the pressure variation. The conventional simple fan jet nozzle has a high potential to cause damage with the drift of 2,4-D.

GLYPHOSATE DOSES AND TEMPERATURE OF APPLICATION SYRUP IN CONTROL OF PALISADE GRASS ABSTRACT: Temperature variations can influence the distribution and penetration of the active ingredient in the plant. However, it is necessary to define the most suitable temperature for each treatment, since lower temperatures may inhibit the absorption of the products and those higher can cause losses due to drift. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of glyphosate doses and the application syrup temperature on the control of palisade grass. Was employed a randomized complete block design with treatments in a factorial 5 x 4 x 4, being five syrup temperatures (5, 20, 35, 50 and 65 °C), four doses of glifosato (0, 0.54, 1.08 and 1.62 kg ha-1) and four evaluation periods (7, 14, 21 and 28 days after application). Three replicates were performed, totaling 240 established experimental units of 10 square meters in size (5 x 2 m) formed with Urochloa brizantha cv. Piatã. There was an effect in double interactions, and observed higher temperature effect in treatments with lower doses of herbicide. It was concluded that the increase in glifosato syrup temperature improvement effective control of U. brizantha mainly in smaller doses. Selective mechanized coffee (Coffea arabica L.) harvesting is strategic for producers to add greater quality and value to their production. However, the success of this operation is linked to the strength needed to detach the fruit from the coffee tree. The objective of this work was to evaluate the detachment force of coffee fruits according to the period of the day (TT), as well as the relation between the stages of maturation and exposure to sunlight. The experiment was carried out in a coffee plantation Catuaí Vermelho IAC 144 (in the municipality of Presidente Olegário, Minas Gerais, Brazil) during the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 harvests. A completely randomized design was used in a time-sub-subdivided plot scheme. The main plot (sun exposure), subplots (fruit maturation stages [TSs]), and sub-subplot (days). The detachment force of the fruits was evaluated using a portable digital dynamometer, with 36 repetitions. Data variance analysis was performed and, when necessary, Tukey's test was applied, both at .05 probability. The force required to remove the fruits from the coffee tree was influenced by the TS, the TT, and the plants' face of sun exposure. It is concluded that the TT and the face of sun exposure influence the detachment strength of the coffee fruits and that considering the detachment strength of the green and ripe fruits, all periods evaluated favor the realization of selective mechanized harvesting of coffee.

MICRORELIEF METER: EVALUATION OF METHODOLOGY FOR ANALYSIS OF ROUGHNESS OF SOIL ABSTRACT: The aim of this study is analyzing and discriminating methods of soil mobilized profile evaluation through a sliding bar profilometer. A field work was carried out under distrofic red-yellow latosolo (LVAd), observed in plots subdivided in space. A completely randomized design was used with four repetitions. The plots consisted of the primary soil preparation, plowing and harrowing, and the subplots of two bar profilometers: 1000 mm (Perf 1) and 2500 mm (Perf 2) in length. The soil mobilization and lifting area were evaluated, with reference to the natural surface of the pre-tillage soil, average thickness of the mobilized layer, soil puffiness, roughness index before and after the preparation, and roughness modification. It was observed a difference between the devices for all variables. There were higher data with Perf 2 for the types of preparation evaluated. The data obtained by Perf 1 underestimated or overestimated the values of analyzed variables. It was concluded that for these studied conditions, it is indicated the taking of 200 points per plot, when using a 2500 mm long slide bar profilometer, to study the soil profile and to determine parameters related to this characteristic.
