The prevention of cyberbullying is an ongoing challenge due to the multifaceted nature of cyberbullying and the difficulties in realizing effective interventions that involve educational institutions, educators, and families. Enduring prevention programs through education need to be de ned and take into account that the digital revolution changes the way and the meaning of interpersonal relationships. Cyberbullying and the Critical Importance of Educational Resources for Prevention and Intervention is a collection of innovative research on the methods and applications of policies and other strategies that identify and prevent online harassment among middle and high school students. Among the strategies discussed are the involvement of school institutions and families in planning continuous and well-structured awareness activities, as well as designing and running effective educational initiatives for intervention. While highlighting topics including digital technologies, bullying behaviors, and online communication, this book is ideally designed for policymakers, educators, academicians, administrators, and researchers.
The Internet is a hugely vast, intriguing world, difficult to penetrate in depth, rich with dissimulations, full of useful but also evil things, that is continuously changing. Cyberbullying represents a palpable risk, especially for the online generation who is constantly connected and uses the internet to socialize. The first step for the prevention of cyberbullying is the acquisition of knowledge of what cyberbullying is and how it occurs within a specific context. This is no easy task, since cyberbullying is a complex and creeping new phenomenon, so much so that researcher's opinions are often divided as to its definition, and there is a lack of agreement on many aspects concerning it. This article presents and comments on some cyberbullying preventing strategies and tips, and is devoted to educators engaged in cyberbullying prevention.
The documented effects of cyberbullying take a burden on all those involved, but also impact the wider social environment as well. Victims experience difficult emotions: feelings of humiliation and worthlessness, shame, fear, despair, and sadness. In the long run, they may suffer reduced self-esteem and interpersonal problems: difficulties in establishing contacts and a tendency to withdrawal and isolation. The consequences for perpetrators include the consolidation of aggressive patterns of behavior, the lowering of the sense of responsibility for their own actions, the tendency to antisocial behavior, and the easy slide into conflicts with the law. Witnesses of violence, who are not able to effectively oppose it, or who do not try, often keep their feelings of guilt, dissatisfaction, and self-recrimination for years. For some, it will internalize patterns of passivity, helplessness, and unresponsiveness in difficult situations. This being the case, deepening our knowledge about all of the participants involved in cyberbullying and their mutual relations is of crucial importance.
In 2016, the Polish government considered necessary to undertake public actions aimed at influencing the structure of population and the course of demographic processes. At the same time, public policieshave been established to respond to the expectations of citizens resulting from the new population structure and societalchanges. This article describes the Polish Family 500+ programafter 2 years of its implementation. The Family 500+ program is not only a legislative means to increase the birth rate, but also representsa new paradigm in social policy, which would ensure ahigh level of social capital to future generations.
