Experimenteller Beitrag zur Frage der Funktion desInterrenalsystems w~ihrend der Schwangerschaft.Von Joaehim Granzow.Zwischen Mutter und Leibesfrucht besteht eine weitgehende Gemeinsamkeit der elementaren LebensvorgEnge. Der wechselseitige Austausch intermedigrer und definitiver StoffwechseIprodukte ist ein lebhafter und konstanter. Man ist hier sehr wohl berechtigt, yon eiaer Symbiose als dam Begriff einer hochgradig ausgeprggten biologischen Vergemeinschaftlichung zweier gesonderter Organismen zu sprechen. Dabei steht der Grad der umnittelbaren Abhi~ngigkeit der Leibesfrucht yon der Mutter im umgekehrten Verhgltnis zur Dauer, d.h. zum Fortgeschrittensein der Schwangerschaft. Das allm~hliche Selb-stEndigwerden des feta]en Organismus ist die selbstverstgndiiche Voraussetzung fiir die Erreichung des normalen Zieles jeder Schwangerschaft, also ffir die Geburt eines ,,reifen" Kindes, das bei vielen Tierarten aul3erordentlich schnell yon der Mutter unabh/~ngig wird.Handelt es sich ]ediglich um die Gewinnung eines lebens/iihigen -wenn auch ,,unreifen" --kindlichen Organismus, so kann die Grenze ffir die Erreichung des hierzu erforderlichen Grades biologischer Unabhgngigkeit um ein Betrgchtliehes zurfiekgesteckt werden. Die vielfgltige Erfahrung Iehrt, dai3 Frfihgeburten unter Berficksichtigung besonderer Kautelen durchaus lebens-und entwicklungsfi~hig sind. Eine Ernghrung durch Muttermileh ist hierffir keine unbedingte Voraussetzung. Wir sind gewohnt wie im Stoffwechsel, so auch in der aktiven T~tigkeit des endokrinen Systems absolute Lebensnotwendigkeitert zu erblicken. Folglich mfissen wit bei lebensf/~higen Frfihgeburten eine ausreichende Leistungsfi~higkeit der Drfisen mit innerer Sekretion voraussetzen. Hieraus ergibt sieh notwendig die Annahme einer biologischen Aktivit~t fetaler Blutdrfisen w~hrend des letzten Teiles der Schwangerschaft. ]3ezfiglich des fiber diesen Gegenstand vorhandenen Materials sowie der einschl~gigen Literatur sei verwiesen auf die Monographie yon Thomas1).
