As oficinas temáticas são continuamente utilizadas no ensino de Química. São instrumentos que possibilitam a construção de ambientes de investigação em sala de aula, a fim de romper com o ensino tradicional e proporcionar a significação dos conceitos estudados. Acreditando em suas potencialidades didáticas, o presente artigo apresenta parte das reflexões emergentes da construção de uma oficina temática sobre o tema petróleo, a partir da adaptação das atividades de uma sequência didática sobre o mesmo tema gerador. Nesse sentido, este trabalho buscou investigar quais as principais dificuldades enfrentadas por um grupo de bolsistas de um subprojeto PIBID de Química na construção de uma oficina temática. Para tal, a coleta de dados se deu pelo acompanhamento do processo de elaboração da oficina e das reflexões decorrentes dessa atividade descritas em seus Diários Reflexivos. Os dados obtidos revelaram que, durante o percurso de construção da oficina, as dificuldades enfrentadas pelos bolsistas estavam relacionadas principalmente à elaboração das atividades, à seleção dos conteúdos, ao controle do tempo, à definição da problematização inicial e ao estabelecimento dos critérios de avaliação. Tais resultados reforçam a importância da reflexão sobre o planejamento didático desde a formação inicial, a fim de formar professores atentos aos mais diversos desafios que o planejamento de atividades de ensino pode apresentar.
