We believe that HTLV-1 detection is necessary in all donors by indirect (ELISA) or direct (PCR) techniques due to its symptomless evolution in the transplant patient on the one hand, and the growing immigrant population in our country which associates an increase in the number of asymptomatic carriers of the virus.
