A taxa de rejeição de imagens radiográficas é um indicador de qualidade da imagem. Neste trabalho, como parte de um programa de garantia da qualidade em um serviço de radiologia diagnóstica em um hospital universitário de grande porte, localizado na cidade de Curitiba (Paraná -Brasil), foram analisados os principais fatores responsáveis pela rejeição de imagens geradas pelo sistema de radiologia computadorizada e radiologia digital, no período de agosto de 2019 a fevereiro de 2020. Os dados foram coletados diariamente e classificados de acordo com o motivo da rejeição. A taxa mensal de imagens rejeitadas neste período encontrou-se dentro do intervalo considerado como aceitável de acordo com a Associação Americana de Física Médica. Constatou-se que os principais motivos para a rejeição de imagens estão relacionados com os erros no posicionamento do paciente e técnica radiográfica incorreta, sendo os exames de tórax os mais rejeitados.
A tomografia computadorizada (TC) é um método de diagnóstico por imagem com altas doses de radiação ionizante entregue ao paciente – de 100 a 500 vezes as doses em procedimentos convencionais por raios X. No caso de pacientes pediátricos, a preocupação com as doses de radiação é maior, devido à grande expectativa de vida e ao fato de eles serem mais radiossensíveis que adultos. Sendo assim, optou-se por realizar o estudo com pacientes pediátricos, de 0 a 2 anos, submetidos a exames de TC de crânio. objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar a avaliação de um processo de otimização de protocolos de crânio pediátrico em tomografia computadorizada, avaliando parâmetros de qualidade de imagem e diminuição de dose, sem perda na qualidade das imagens. Foi verificado o índice CTDIvol em quinze amostras de exames de crânio, assim como parâmetros de aquisição das imagens, no referido protocolo. A partir destes dados, foram desenvolvidos cinco protocolos experimentais e analisaram-se as razões contraste-ruído das imagens produzidas. Utilizando como métrica de qualidade a figura de mérito (FOM) para análise da qualidade em comparação com os níveis de CTDIvol, concluiu-se que, embora o índice de dose do protocolo atual esteja condizente com a recomendação da AAPM, de 29 mGy, é possível reduzir o índice de CTDIvol, para 18 mGy – ou seja, uma redução de 40% do CTDIvol com relação à recomendação da AAPM e de 23% em relação ao protocolo atual. Com os parâmetros de aquisição estudados, constatou-se uma redução na qualidade das imagens, conforme a análise do FOM. Sendo assim, sugere-se a utilização de algoritmos de redução do ruído, ou seja, filtros de reconstrução, para não haver prejuízo da qualidade diagnóstica das imagens.
O câncer de mama é o mais comum entre as mulheres, por este motivo o Ministério da Saúde recomenda que a mamografia seja realizada a cada dois anos em mulheres entre 50 e 69 anos, de modo que o principal objetivo deste exame como método de rastreamento é justamente a redução da taxa de mortalidade em função do aumento de casos detectados em estados iniciais da doença. Porém, a efetividade do exame está diretamente relacionada com a qualidade e desempenho dos equipamentos. Dessa forma, foi criado o Programa Nacional de Qualidade em Mamografia (PNQM) com a finalidade de aprimorar a qualidade das mamografias, sendo obrigatório a todos os serviços do Brasil. Assim, este estudo visa avaliar os resultados obtidos através do controle de qualidade da imagem mamográfica digital, para garantir a consistência do receptor de imagem digital avaliando a relação sinal-ruído (RSR) e relação contraste-ruído (RCR) do receptor de imagem. A coleta dos dados ocorreu semanalmente através do teste de qualidade da imagem realizada na rotina do setor, no período de junho de 2019 a março de 2020, conforme recomendação do fabricante. Os dados encontrados estão dentro do limite proposto pelo fabricante o qual informa que a RSR deve ser maior que 40 e a RCR deve estar dentro de ±15% da linha de base. Consequentemente, o mamógrafo utilizado produz imagens adequadas para realizar laudos confiáveis.
A literatura relata diferentes métodos para quantificar a razão-sinal-ruído ou SNR (do inglês Signal-to-Noise-Ratio) em imagens por ressonância magnética, de acordo com a bobina de radiofrequência utilizada. Este trabalho tem por objetivo apresentar a avaliação de dois métodos de medida da SNR baseadas na publicação da NEMA, variando-se a largura de banda de recepção (Bwr) para uma sequência Spin Eco convencional. O método 1, denominado subtração das imagens, resultou em uma curva cujo valor do parâmetro de interesse foi de (-0,49 ± 0,01) com R2 igual a 0,99664. O método 2, denominado ruído do fundo, resultou em um valor de (-0,50 ± 0,01) com R2 igual a 0,99581. Ambos os métodos se mostraram satisfatórios para a obtenção da SNR, não apresentando diferenças significativas com relação aos resultados.
