Stable iron, ruthenium, and osmium nanoparticles are obtained reproducibly by thermal or photolytic decomposition under an argon atmosphere from Fe2(CO)9, Ru3(CO)12, and Os3(CO)12, dissolved in the ionic liquid BMim+BF4
−, with a very small and uniform size for Ru and Os nanoparticles of about 1.5−2.5 nm without any additional stabilizers or capping molecules (characterization by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), dynamic light scattering, and transmission electron diffraction (TED) analysis).
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
