This meeting was held under the auspices of the Faraday Society a t the School of Chemistry, University of Leeds, on Thursday, 25th and Friday, 26th September, 1958. The chair was taken on the Thursday afternoon by Prof. F. S. Dainton and on the Friday morning by Prof. C. Kemball. The meeting was organized by Dr. D. R. Stranks and some forty-five people attended.The discussion was based on recent studies of homogeneous reactions proceeding in gas and liquid phases and of heterogeneous reactions a t gassolid interfaces. Preprints of the set contributions were circulated before the meeting. The high-lights of the meeting were the vigorous, informal discussions which followed each set contribution and the presentation of the preliminary results obtained from several studies still in progress. The set contributions are summarized below.
