A toxicidade das plantas depende de diversos fatores e seu potencial pode provocar danos à saúde dos homens e animais podendo inclusive leva-los à morte. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo e exploratório por meio de uma investigação transversal, retrospectiva e quantitativa de dados epidemiológicos obtidos no SINITOX, com o objetivo de apresentar a evolução dos casos de intoxicações por plantas registrados no Brasil no período de 2000 a 2015, e traçar uma análise quali-quantitativa de diversos fatores envolvidos nas notificações. Os maiores índices ocorreram na região Sudeste, entre homens, no meio urbano, causados por acidentes, e com taxa de óbito de 0,2%.
Introdução: O Sarcoma de Ewing (ES), com incidência de 1/1.000.000 de pessoas, é, em sua maioria (80%), uma neoplasia originária dos ossos, compreendendo o segundo tumor primário mais comum entre crianças e adolescentes.1,2 É uma entidade maligna agressiva, sendo os homens mais acometidos que as mulheres na razão de 1,5:1, e tendo maior prevalência entre pacientes caucasianos em comparação aos de origem africana.1 Objetivo: Relatar o processo investigativo de uma paciente com massa abdominal a esclarecer, até chegar ao diagnóstico etiológico preciso. Relato de caso: Paciente do sexo feminino, 12 anos, procedente de Barbalha – CE, compareceu ao ambulatório de Ginecologia do Hospital Maternidade São Vicente de Paulo queixando-se de dor em região pélvica iniciada há um mês, com irradiação para face anterior da coxa, agravada no período menstrual e associada à perda ponderal de 6 kg durante a evolução da dor. Procedeu-se à investigação diagnóstica com a realização de Ultrassonografia (USG) abdominal e Tomografia Computadorizada (TC) de pelve, esta evidenciou volumosa lesão expansiva heterogênea, predominantemente cística com várias septações grosseiras de permeio, de localização pré-sacral. Realizou-se laparotomia exploradora na expectativa da massa anexial evidenciada ter etiologia ovariana; no entanto, os achados cirúrgicos foram útero e ovários normais e massa de consistência fibro-cística volumosa retroperitoneal aderida ao reto. Como seguimento, foi realizada biópsia percutânea da lesão, que demonstrou neoplasia pouco diferenciada, sugestiva de Tumor de Wilms. Em complemento foi solicitado perfil imunohistoquímico que, em conjunto com os achados morfológicos, foi consistente com Sarcoma de Ewing/Tumor Neuroectodérmico Primitivo (PNET). Após resultado, em virtude do tipo de tumor e da idade, paciente foi transferida para o Hospital Infantil Albert Sabin, em Fortaleza. Conclusão: O caso dá luz à importância da persistência na investigação diagnóstica de patologias que não foram bem elucidadas a despeito da utilização de recursos de imagem e laboratoriais refinados. Apesar de doenças raras não fazerem parte do escopo médico cotidiano, seu diagnóstico não deve ser negligenciado ou menosprezado, pois oportuniza a obtenção de tratamento especializado.

Introdução: O Câncer do Colo do Útero (CCU) é uma causa de morte evitável quando diagnosticado e tratado precocemente 1 , mas apesar disso, no cenário mundial, o CCU representa, entre as mulheres, a segunda neoplasia com maior incidência e uma das causas de óbito mais frequentes em países de baixa renda.A compreensão dos determinantes sociais, individuais e regionais é de suma importância para identificação de grupos populacionais de maior risco e elaboração de estratégias que tornem equânime o acesso à saúde. Objetivos: Relacionar os diferentes índices de mortalidade por CCU com as particularidades de cada região brasileira. Método: Trata-se de uma revisão sistemática sem metanálise seguindo a estrutura descrita por Egger e Smith. Realizou-se uma busca nas bases de dados SciELO, LILACS, MEDLINE, com os descritores "Neoplasias do Colo do Útero", "Brasil" e "Mortalidade". Os critérios de inclusão estabelecidos foram estudos primários e secundários, desenvolvidos no Brasil, publicados a partir de 2000, e em idioma português. Resultados: A amostra foi composta por 08 estudos primários, sendo 04 publicados na Revista de Saúde Pública e todos utilizando dados dos Sistemas de Informação em Saúde. As análises de tendência temporal da mortalidade indicam a existência de movimentos diferenciados do CCU no país, reflexo indireto da incidência e direto dos indicadores socioeconômicos das mulheres, do acesso aos serviços de saúde, da qualidade da assistência prestada e da veracidade dos registros. É nítida a queda dos óbitos em mulheres residentes das regiões Sudeste, Sul e Centro-Oeste, enquanto nas regiões Norte e Nordeste, com exceção das capitais, há elevação. Mulher com baixa renda per capita, baixa escolaridade, sem plano de saúde privado, residente em zona rural ou distante do centro urbano, constitui o grupo com menor chance de realizar o rastreio do CCU, não detectando-o precocemente e dificultando o prognóstico. Conclusão: As metas de diagnóstico precoce e queda na taxa de mortalidade não alcançadas se refletem em necessidades médicas não atendidas perante os estágios de desenvolvimento do país e de suas particularidades territoriais, socioculturais e econômicas. Portanto, enfatiza-se a necessidade de maiores intervenções que deem atenção especial aos grupos sob maior risco, e para que elas sejam efetivas devem incluir medidas que promovam maior equidade no acesso, com garantia de tratamento adequado e seguimento. Introdução: A presença de metástases linfonodais é um dos fatores mais importantes no prognóstico e na escolha do tratamento adjuvante em pacientes com tumores sólidos.A disseminação ocorre de modo ordenado e sequencial, sendo os Linfonodos Sentinelas (LNS), os primeiros da cadeia linfática a receber a drenagem de uma determinada região tumoral, permitindo, assim, predizer o estado de toda a cadeia.Objetivos: Estudar a pesquisa do LNS como método diagnóstico de metástase ganglionar insuspeita e determinar a validade do procedimento no estadiamento e prognóstico do câncer. Método: Trata-se de uma revisão sistemática sem metanálise seguindo a estrutura descrita por Egger e Smith. Realizou-se uma busca nos acervos SciELO, LILACS, PubMed e Biblioteca Cochrane, com os descritores “Sentinel Lymph Node”, “Neoplasm Staging” e “Prognosis”. Os critérios de inclusão estabelecidos foram estudos primários e secundários, publicados a partir de 2010, em inglês e que abordam o estudo dos LNS. Resultados: A amostra foi composta por 06 estudos primários e 03 secundários, sendo a maioria publicada em 2010, e 04 com tradução para o português. As evidências da validade da biópsia do linfonodo sentinela (SLNB) variam em vários estudos e tem uma curva de sucesso em função da aquisição das habilidades necessárias para realizá-lo: sensibilidade superior a 90% e 100% de especificidade, quando realizado com a técnica combinada de marcadores; cerca de 8% de falsos negativos valor preditivo negativo acima de 96%, taxa de recorrência após SLNB negativa de 0,45-1% em 2460 meses de seguimento3, ademais, supre a dificuldade de identificação dos linfonodos metastáticos pelos métodos de imagem no câncer gástrico precoce em pacientes não elegíveis para ressecção endoscópica5e ainda, substitui com excelente eficácia a dissecção axilar no câncer de mama reduzindo sobremaneira a morbidade inerente.CONCLUSÃO: Um estadiamento linfático preciso é importante, pois se mostrou que os pacientes com metástases evidentes nos LNS se beneficiarão de quimioterapia adjuvante, com a qual se busca melhorar a taxa de sobrevivência de 5 anos sem a doença, reduzir à recorrência e os óbitos. Notavelmente, a SLNB representa significativa vantagem como procedimento menos invasivo, de maior acurácia no estadiamento e nas informações prognósticas, associado a menor morbidade pós-operatória, que favorecem a ressecções atípicas e linfadenectomias limitadas.
