Les lésions cérébrales acquises chez le bébé et l’enfant âgé de moins de 3 ans sont responsables de déficiences immédiates et leur remédiation comporte des spécificités. Mais elles génèrent également des troubles apparaissant à distance, lorsque la fonction attendue n’apparaît pas ou que son émergence comporte des déviances liées à l’atteinte. Dans ce cadre, le suivi orthophonique des tout-petits est donc contraint par l’immaturité physiologique de la fonction (en cours de développement) et des capacités qui la sous-tendent. Ce suivi est d’autant plus efficace s’il étaye et jalonne les productions et les comportements communicatifs de l’enfant en devenir. Un travail d’accompagnement parental prend alors tout son sens dans un cadre pluridisciplinaire.
