Die Untersuchung der Grabgefäße in Saint-Laurent ermöglicht es, ein genaueres Bild vom hochmittelalterlichen Tongeschirr in der Region Rhône-Alpes zu gewinnen. Es handelt sich um scheibengedrehte Gefäße, die in einem Reduktionsofen gebrannt wurden. Die weitverbreiteste Form ist die kugelförmige Olla, ohne Hais, versehen mit einem Kragenrand, die den nunmehr allenthalben bekannten mittelalterlichen Kochtopf ankündigt. Die flache Boden kleinen AusmaOes hingegen ist ein von der Spätantike uberkomme nes Charakteristikum.
In der Nekropole wurden ebenfalls Bruchstucke von gekniffenen Schnabelkrügen sowie Becher und Schalen gefunden. Indes, das Material der Nekropole in Saint-Laurent zeigt lediglich einen Teilaspekt des hochmittelalterlichen Formenreichtums. In der Tat fördertern Siedlangen der gleichen Epoche zahlreiche offene Formen zutage, unter ihnen einige aus roter "Ware. Die Erzeugnisse der Spätantike, z.B. feine, hell-und graufarbige Gefäße (terra sigillata) sind hier ebenfalls während des 6. Jh. vertreten. Im Laufe des 7. Jh. jedoch reduzieren sich offensichtlich die Mannigfaltigkeit der Techniken und Formen des Tafelgeschirrs. Die alltäglichen, fast auschließlich zu Kochzwecken genutzten Tongeschirre verdrängen die importierten oder heimischen «Luxus» — Erzeugnisse.
Diese Beobachtungen sind in eine allgemeine Strömung einzuordnen, die den südostlichen Teil Frankreichs betrifft, und zwar insbesondere Rhonetal und Mittelmeerraum. Ein wenig anders verläuft die Entwicklung im Yoralpen — und Alpengebiet, wo die antikisierenden Traditionen in Wettstreit mit nordischen und germanischen Strömungen treten.
