Durante la última década la migración internacional en Chile se ha convertido en una de las principales problemáticas al momento de pensar la ciudad y sus espacios públicos. Saber cómo se representan las urbes y qué estrategias de integración socio-espacial se utilizan, es clave para comprender la relación de las personas migrantes con el espacio urbano vivido. A partir de un estudio cualitativo exploratorio de la migración internacional en Temuco, los resultados del estudio muestran que las diferentes representaciones del espacio urbano ponen de manifiesto imágenes de una ciudad fragmentada que carece de dispositivos urbanos concretos diseñados para la integración socio-espacial de los extranjeros, quienes, no obstante, desarrollan distintas estrategias de integración que les permiten vincularse parcialmente con la ciudad y que se expresan en las diversas representaciones de ella.
El presente artículo analiza los resultados de siete indicadores de sostenibilidad urbana aplicados a nivel de barrio en la ciudad de Temuco, Chile. Para el estudio se trabajó con una selección de indicadores extraídos del Plan de Indicadores de Sostenibilidad de Vitoria-Gasteiz, España, para testear su desempeño y utilidad en una ciudad intermedia y en el contexto latinoamericano. Para ello se seleccionó una muestra de seis barrios de Temuco distinguiendo entre nivel socioeconómico y antigüedad como variables independientes. Los resultados comparativos no muestran diferencias significativas en términos del nivel socioeconómico de los barrios, pero sí una tendencia que indica que, a mayor antigüedad, mayores niveles de sostenibilidad.
En términos epistemológicos, se considera el ferrocarril un objeto de estudio que permite observar tanto su rol vinculado exclusivamente al transporte como también el valor asignado a nivel simbólico y material por los habitantes de zonas urbanas y rurales de los territorios. Por este motivo, la presente investigación analiza la valoración que hacen los pasajeros del servicio ferroviario respecto a su impacto en el desarrollo de las actividades cotidianas. Además de la utilización de un enfoque metodológico cuantitativo, se estableció contacto con viajeros del ferrocarril (n=224) para así analizar la apreciación del servicio mediante variables como funcionamiento ferroviario, motivaciones de uso y otros atributos valorativos. Dentro de los resultados, analizados en base a variables particulares, destaca una evaluación ciertamente positiva a nivel de efectividad de transporte, la necesidad de ampliar los servicios ofrecidos y un estrecho vínculo entre el ferrocarril y la cultura local e historia familiar, lo cual influye en la elección de este dispositivo de transporte por sobre otros.
La movilidad permite explorar diversos espacios de la vida cotidiana, transformándose en una categoría de análisis que cada vez adquiere mayor relevancia en las ciencias sociales. El presente artículo tiene por objetivo analizar las experiencias de movilidad cotidiana en contextos de exclusión socioespacial en el sur de Chile, cuyas implicancias entrecruzan las subjetividades del viaje y la infraestructura de la movilidad. Se utilizó una metodología cualitativa, específicamente entrevistas semiestructuradas a 110 personas en el período 2014-2018. Dentro de los resultados destaca la aparición de movilidades interurbanas con ritmos y espacio-temporalidades diferenciadas de las prácticas tradicionalmente urbanas; condiciones de precariedad que trascienden el tiempo destinado a la movilidad, y tácticas de viaje que se complementan con la organización de la movilidad efectuada al alero de sistemas de transporte propios del sur de Chile.
