ENSAYO CÓMO CITAR RESUMENIntroducción: El objetivo de este ensayo es reflexionar acerca del concepto de gestión en enfermería con el fin de visibilizar a países latinoamericanos que han incorporado la gestión del cuidado a sus normativas, en específico la experiencia chilena y los aspectos legales que rigen la gestión del cuidado. Desarrollo: Para conseguir dicho objetivo, se efectuó una revisión bibliográfica en diversas revistas de corriente principal, textos y leyes relacionadas con el gerenciamiento y la gestión del cuidado. Inicialmente, se analizó el concepto de gestión con la intención de comprender por qué la enfermería lo integra dentro de sus ámbitos de desempeño; luego, se buscó visibilizar cómo algunos países de Latinoamérica han incorporado, dentro de sus marcos legales, la gestión del cuidado a la profesión de enfermería, por último, se analiza la experiencia de la enfermería chilena al respecto. Conclusión: Como consideraciones finales se obtiene que la gestión del cuidado es parte de la función social de las enfermeras/os; por tanto, desempeñar el trabajo diario incorporando lo gerencial, otorgará competencias gestoras y facilitará el cuidado autónomo para tales profesionales.Palabras claves: cuidado, gestión, legislación-de-enfermería. The objective of this article is to reflect on the implication of the concept of management of nursing, making Latin-American countries that have incorporated the management of care aware of its norms and the Chilean experience and the legal aspects that regulate the management of care are specifically presented. Development: To achieve this objective, a bibliographic revision of diverse mainstream magazines, texts and laws related to administration and management of care was carried out. Initially, the concept of management is analyzed with the purpose of comprehending why the nursing integrates it in its field of performance. To visualize later how some of the countries of Latin America have incorporated it in their legal frameworks of management of care of nursing, and subsequently the experience of the Chilean nursing with regard to the management of care is analyzed extensively. Conclusions: As final considerations it is indicated that the management of care is part of the social function of the nurses, for the daily work they are to perform incorporating the management, it would provide managing competencies and would permit the autonomous caretaking to these professionals.
