Itapema (SC) é um município do litoral norte catarinense dotado de belezas naturais, onde o turismo é a principal atividade econômica, sendo a existência de saneamento básico fundamental para a conservação ambiental e a garantia da qualidade de vida da população. A cidade apresentou, nos anos de 2013 e 2014, problemas de poluição no rio Perequê, resultando na morte de dezenas de espécies de organismos aquáticos. Com o grande uso dos recursos hídricos na região, tanto no abastecimento de água quanto na destinação do efluente doméstico, torna-se necessário o pleno funcionamento do Sistema de Esgotamento Sanitário (SES). Para tanto, é essencial que as ligações prediais de esgoto sejam realizadas de forma correta. Este trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar os resultados das vistorias realizadas no ano de 2014, a fim de subsidiar os gestores municipais nas tomadas de decisão. A situação geral encontrada para as ligações prediais de esgoto mostra que apenas 38% das edificações estavam ligadas de forma correta, sendo que 10% ainda utilizavam o sistema de tratamento individual.
