AbstractInnovation in medicine always existed. It is in essence, a necessary adaptation enabling the continuous improvement of the healthcare system according to time and environment. Currently the innovative approach is a more global, holistic and systemic vision of health including all stakeholders: patients, relatives and health providers. Innovative health practices are indubitably related to a cross-disciplinary, multi professional and pioneering culture demanding a joint training for health providers. Research leading to innovative practices should be based on this new vision of heath linking fundamental science to human science. The authors emphasize on the need for policy and regulation in an ethical aim for sustainability of innovative health practices.
