Research background: The overall impact of coronavirus has some positives and negatives on the tourism sector and thus on other downstream sectors. The stagnation of tourism will make it easier for overcrowded tourist centers, which corresponds to the goals of sustainable tourism. On the other hand, negatives can be attributed to it. The Covid -19 epidemic caused the decline in business activities in tourism to almost zero, not only in the Czech Republic, but in the entire global area. If we consider with the intention that a large part of tourism enterprises is dependent on foreign clients, then the steps necessary to prevent the further spread of the epidemic were fatal for many enterprises and contribute to rising unemployment, reducing public budget revenues, etc. It is clear that the functioning of tourism will not return to pre-coronavirus and will be gradual. Businesses will need to adapt their services and find new ways to distribute them. Purpose of the article: The aim of the paper is to map the effect of coronavirus on selected aspects of sustainable tourism in the Czech Republic. Methods: We used primary data obtained from controlled interviews with the operators of the monitored facilities and secondary data (EUROSTAT, CSO). Findings & Value added: The paper includes models of the impact of coronavirus in the field of tourism, focusing mainly on accommodation and catering establishments.
Research background: With the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, there has been a complete collapse in demand in global markets due to restrictions on movement and market paralysis. Among the sectors most significantly affected is tourism, which is predominantly dependent on the movement of clients. The performance of the tourism industry fell to a minimum during the pandemic. Restaurants and accommodation facilities were closed almost overnight by government intervention. The restriction of free movement has also forced airlines to curb their activities. These companies can be considered as an important globalization element, enabling travel to distant destinations. Purpose of the article: The article deals with the effects of the pandemic on European Union airlines, as well as the tools adopted to restore air traffic. Based on the analysis, the development of transport flows in air transport before and during the pandemic was evaluated. Furthermore, tools and measures taken to stimulate air services were analyzed and models of possible impacts on the EU aviation industry and selected economic factors were predicted. Methods: Basic mathematical and statistical methods, correlation analysis, comparisons and predictions were used for the analysis. Findings & Value added: The situation brings problems associated with redundancies, i.e. rising unemployment, declining GDP, falling stock markets or airline bankruptcies as in the case of the British Flybe. Based on 2019 data, it can be estimated that in the period March-June 2020, the demand for EU27 passenger air transport decreased by approximately 100 million passengers.
Research background: Global pandemics, like other crises, is reflected in financial decision-making. For many individuals, the crisis represents a loss of confidence in the economy; fears of losing their jobs, and by analogy, subjects assume a deterioration in their own economic situation. In relation to income shocks, consumers exhibit three types of financial behavior: realizing consumption, generating debt or generating savings. The growth of savings with the entrepreneur's investment restraint, increasing the debt burden significantly affects the social sphere and the economic competitiveness of the region in the global space. Purpose of the article: The article deals with a comparison of the development of savings and household debts in Czechia during the economic crisis and the development during the pandemic. At the same time, the analysis includes a comparison of the values f the development of savings and debts with the development of the consumer confidence indicator in the given period. Methods: The main method of the paper is analysis, comparison of data and prediction of the development of quantities. Quarterly and monthly data for the period 2009 - 2013 and 2020 - 2021 were used for the analysis. Basic for analysis and comparison was represented by the ARAD databases, the Czech Statistical Office, etc. Findings & Value added: The results show that the more dynamic growth of savings in the pandemic was caused by limited consumption, but also by wage growth. Debt growth was more pronounced during the economic crisis, during the pandemic it is a reflection of housing needs and developments in the real estate market.
Research background: The modern tourism industry has undergone many significant changes in recent years, from the increasingly massive use of modern technologies, through the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, to a new trend in the form of increasing domestic tourism. If the tourism businesses wants to succeed in a competitive environment, they should focus on the quality of the information they publish on their websites, social networks or through other sources with greater intensity than before. Information accessibility is an important factor on the basis of which potential clients decide on the purchase of a tourist product. Until now, companies focused primarily on foreign clients now have more room to focus on the much-neglected issue of accessibility for clients with specific needs; on the other hand, companies focused on domestic clients can also expand the range language versions of their information channels. In addition, the fact that the accessibility of tourism businesses not only brings a competitive advantage, but also strengthens the economic potential of the region. Purpose of the article: The aim of the paper is to map the level of information accessibility of tourism companies, primarily gastronomic facilities in the Czech Republic. Methods: Primary data obtained from controlled interviews with representatives of professional associations and operators of monitored facilities and secondary data from publicly available sources were used. Findings & Value added: The paper contains model examples of the state of information accessibility in tourism companies.
