The article presents findings on changes in 1. the social position and functions, 2. the mentality and "ideology" of managers and 3. their intraorganizational coalitions with employees. Based on deep semi-structured interviews with 60 top and personal managers and 60 workers and Trade Union officials from large and medium-sized industrial enterprises, the results can be used to improve industrial relations within the societal transformation.
