Um fur die Oxydation des Palladiummetalls die geeignete Oxydationstemperatur zu erkunden, analog den Untersuchungen des einen von uns am Platin, war Kenntnis der Zersetzungsspannung seiner Oxyde im besonderen, ihrer Eigenschaften im allgemeinen Voraussetzung. Erleichtert wurde diese Arbeit durch die Erfahrungen an den Platinoxyden , 2 denen die Palladiumoxyde in ihren Eigenschaften im allgemeinen sehr ahnlich, allerdings auch in einigen recht undhnlich sind. I n erster Linie zeigt ein Vergleich der Oxyde beider Netalle eine grolse Ubereinstimmung in dem Verhalten des hy d r a t i s c h e n Was sers. Auch die Palladiumoxyde halten das Wasser sehr fest gebunden und geben es bei hohen Temperaturen nur unter teilweisem Zerfall ab. So hatte beispielsweise nach 5 Stunden ein Palladiumoxydul bei BOO0 noch uber 1 O/,, Wasser und hatte schon 1 Sauerstoff verloren. Wasserfrei mit theoretischem Sauerstoffgehalt sind die Palladiumoxyde wie die des Platins aus den Hydraten direkt nicht herstellbar. Eine weitere xhnlichkeit weisen sie i n d e r geringen B a s i z i t a t , bezw. der umgekehrt proportionalen Aziditat auf. Die Basizitat der Palladiumoxyde ist etwas starker als die der Platinoxyde, ihre Aziditlt dementsprechend noch geringer als beim Platin; Salze einer Palladiumsaure analog denen der Platinsaure sind in reinem Zustand nicht bekannt. Natronhaltiges Oxyd allerdings, und besonders Dioxyd, sind leider nur zu leicht zu erhalten.
