YouTube is one of the most utilized social media in the field of education. Nonetheless, the extent to which the diverse potentials of YouTube are being harnessed in the teaching-learning process is a function of the teachers’ perception. Hence, this study examined future teachers’ perception towards the use of YouTube for teaching-learning activities in Nigerian Basic Schools. The study employed descriptive survey method and 200 future teachers were selected using purposive sampling technique. The respondents filled to a questionnaire titled “Future Teachers’ Perception towards the Use of YouTube Questionnaire (FTPUYQ). The validity of the questionnaire was established by experts, while the test re-test reliability yielded a correlation coefficient of 0.79. The results revealed that future teachers had a high level of perception towards the use of YouTube in teaching-learning activities in Nigerian Basic Schools. It was found that there was no significant difference in the future teachers’ perception based on gender. Therefore, it was recommended that future teachers in Nigerian Basic Schools, should be exposed to various training and capacity building sessions on the procedure for creating, assessing, uploading and using YouTube videos to facilitate the success of the teaching-learning process.
This study assessed the levels of cyberloafing, job satisfaction and job productivity of National Youth Corps members in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. The ex-post facto design (correlation method) was employed for the study. The respondents were 400 who were drawn using simple random sampling technique from Bayelsa State, Nigeria. Four research questions were generated while one hypothesis was tested at 0.05 level of significance. A researcher-constructed questionnaire tagged "Cyberloafing, Job Satisfaction and Job Productivity Questionnaire (CJSJPQ)" was used for data collection. The instrument was administered on 30 selected corps members outside the sample location through test-retest method; it yielded a reliability coefficient of 0.89 that was obtained through the Cronbach's Alpha formula. Data were analyzed with percentage, Pearson Product Moment Correlation and multiple regression statistical tools. The findings revealed that corps members have a moderate level of cyberloafing, job satisfaction and a high level of job productivity. The results also indicated that there is a significant relationship among cyberloafing, job satisfaction and job productivity of the respondents, with job satisfaction being the most significant predictor. Hence, it was recommended that corps members should be encouraged to exercise self-regulation in the utilization of the internet for non-work purposes in the workplace.
This study analyzed the status and trends of research in the field of social education, by applying the method of content analysis to examine the articles published in one of the representative journals of the field, Sociální pedagogika / Social Education, from 2018-2020. Several articles were retrieved from the relevant database and examined based on seven themes, which include frequently used keywords, general aims, research type, research method, data collection methods, sample, and data analysis methods. The data obtained were recorded and analyzed using frequency and percentage. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended that the prospects and shortcomings of the analyzed studies should be harnessed to expand the frontiers of knowledge in the field of social education in the future.
