A new species of Campylocia is described from Northern Brazil based on male and female imagoes. The main characteristics that distinguish the male imago of the new species from its congeners are: forewings with fork of Rs basal to fork of MA and one or two intercalary veins attached to CuA; general color of abdomen whitish; terga I-VIII with purplish brown dorsolateral area and light colored medial line; terga II-VII with two pairs of light colored drop-shaped spots (one medioapical and one medial); tergum VIII with a medioapical pair of light colored drop-shaped spots; terga IX-X orange; base of penis rectangular; penis lobes adjacent to medial line, laterally directed, without median lobes, fused on basal 1/2 and slender on distal 2/3; subgenital plate rectangular with medial emargination and dark brown margins.
We conducted an inventory of the Trichoptera fauna of Serra do Tepequém, Amajari municipality (county), Roraima state, Brazil. Adult caddisflies were collected with Pennsylvania and Malaise traps operated beside three 2nd-order streams near the summit of Serra do Tepequém. We identified 27 Trichoptera species (including two new species), all representing new records for the state of Roraima, five of these species are recorded for the first time in Brazil. In this study, two new species are described: Marilia mahedae sp. nov. differs from all other species of the genus by the following combination of characters: Segment X subquadrate in dorsal view, bipartite, membranous mesally, with short apical V-shaped incision; preanal appendages wide at base in lateral view; endotheca with an acute subapicoventral projection, directed anterad in lateral view; phallotheca very short. Polyplectropus tepequemensis sp. nov. differs from all other species of the genus by the following combination of characters: Posterior margin of sternum IX nearly straight; slightly sclerotized intermediate appendages broad in the basal 2/3 and abruptly slender apically; two phallic ducts, each with an endothecal spine. With this inventory the number of Trichoptera species for Roraima state increased from 37 to 65.
The species of Miroculis Edmunds, 1963 were distributed into four subgenera by Savage & Peters (1983): M. (Miroculis), M. (Yaruma), M. (Atroari) and M. (Ommaethus). These four subgenera occur in Brazil, but of the 10 species recorded from the country, five belong to Miroculis (Miroculis) (Dominguez et al. 2013; Costa & Mariano 2013, Salles et al. 2011). This subgenus is characterized by having the dorsal part of the eyes of the males on a stalks that are longer than wide, with 5 a 20 facets in the longest row (Peters et al., 2008) and is represented by nine species distributed in Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela (Dominguez et al. 2013; Costa & Mariano 2013). In this paper, Miroculis is reported for the first time in the State of Roraima and a new species of Miroculis (Miroculis) is described based on male imagos from Serra Tepequém.
Abstract -The objective of this work was to contribute to the knowledge of Euglossina bees ecology in the Roraima State, Amazon Region, Brazil. A study of the Euglossina bees fauna from Serra do Tepequém, municipality of Amajari was made. The collects of Euglossina bees were carried out in March to May 2011 using traps made with PET bottles containing aromatic baits. The abundance and diversity of Euglossina were verified in primary forest edge, primary forest inside, and in a fragment of altered forest on top of the mountain. About 243 specimens of Euglossina bees were collected, and distributed among 24 species of three genera: Euglossa, Eulaema and Exaerete. The predominance was the genus Euglossa followed by Eulaema and Exaerete. The most abundant species was Euglossa imperialis followed by Eulaema meriana and Eulaema nigrita. The greatest species richness was observed on the edge and within the primary forest. In spite of have not been verified difference in average abundance of the species between the sites was noted a decrease of diversity in altered forest fragment, concluding that forest fragmentation is harmful to the diversity of this group of bees.
