Diarrhoeal diseases represent a major public health issue in lower-and middle-income countries (LMICs), and their reduction is vital to achieving Sustainable Development Goals for health [1,2]. The improved health and nutrition of infants and children are often not prioritised in current discourses on food systems, but there is an urgent requirement to ensure that such systems better respond to their needs [3].
