This article is a review of litterature relating to the interaction between the complexity of the task of reading French and the characteristics of students with intellectual disabilities. To do this we used the Disability creation process proposed by Fougeyrollas, Cloutier, Bergeron, Côté and St-Michel (1998). Under this process, environmental elements, in interaction with impairments or personal integrity, may become factors hinder the achievement of an activity. So we can show how these situations of disability can affect non-cognitive features of the reader who has intellectual disabilities
This study describes the effect of readers' intention and of the structure of a narrative on the recall of a text read by young children. A group of 40 subjects, aged 7 and 8 years, read two texts: one specifying an intention for reading, and the other without one. The results permit the authors to describe the existence of the beginnings of a narrative schema for these subjects and the importance of this as a potential influence on the reader's intention.
