The shear viscosity of Bi-Ga melts in the entire concentration range was measured using an oscillating-cup viscometer. The viscosity data well above the temperature of phase separation can be represented by an empirical equation of the Arrhenius type. The activation energies of viscous flow are given. In the vicinity of the critical point the viscosity increases as the temperature decreases. This behaviour is analysed in terms of various models. The critical exponent y is found to be y = 0.032 ± 003.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
