Abstract. The endangered underwater species always drew the attention of the scientific society since their disappearance would cause irreplaceable loss. Asia is home to some of the most diverse habitats in the earth, but it is estimated that more than one in four species are endangered. In Underwater, a lot of factors are putting marine life under immense pressure. Extreme population pressure is leading to pollution, over-fishing and the devastation of crucial habitats. Consequently, the numbers of almost all fish are declining and many are already endangered. To help these species to survive, their habitat should be strictly protected. This can be achieved by strictly monitoring them. During this course, several parameters, constraints about the species and its environments are focused. Now, advances in sensor technology facilitate the monitoring of species and their habitat with less expenditure. Indeed, the increasing sophistication of underwater wireless sensors offers chances that enable new challenges in a lot of areas, like surveillance one. This paper endorses the use of sensors for monitoring underwater species endangered in their habitat. This paper further examines the key approaches and challenges in the design and implementation of underwater wireless sensor networks. We summarize major applications and the main phenomena related to acoustic propagation, and discuss how they affect the design and operation of communication systems and networking protocols at various layers.
Biometrics combined with cryptography can be employed to solve the conceptual and factual identity frauds in digital authentication. Biometric traits are proven to provide enhanced security for detecting crimes because of its interesting features such as accuracy, stability, and uniqueness. Although diverse techniques have been raised to address this objective, limitations such as higher computational time, minimal accuracy, and maximum recognition time remain. To overcome these challenges, an enhanced iris recognition approach has been proposed based on hyperelliptic curve cryptography (HECC). The proposed study uses the 2D Gabor filter approach for perfect feature extraction in iris preprocessing. A lightweight cryptographic scheme called HECC was employed to encrypt the iris template to avoid intentional attack by the intruders. The benchmark CASIA Iris V-4 and IITD iris datasets were used in the proposed approach for experimental analysis. The result analysis witnessed that the prime objective of the research such as lesser false acceptance rate, lesser false rejection rate, maximum accuracy of 99.74%, maximum true acceptance rate of 100%, and minimal recognition time of 3 seconds has been achieved. Also, it has been identified that the proposed study outperforms other existing well-known techniques.
PurposeThis paper aims to present the design of a compact vertically polarized four-element UWB antenna suitable for MIMO communications.Design/methodology/approachThe unit cell antenna is constructed using a square ring radiator excited through a stepped impedance feed. The proposed antenna covers the Ultra-wideband (UWB) spectrum ranging from 2.2 to 12.3 GHz. The isolation between the unit cell antennas in the array is enhanced using a simple microstrip line resonator. The decoupling element is connected to the ground through a via.FindingsThe proposed scheme offers at least 16 dB improvement in the port-to-port coupling. Furthermore, the four-element antenna array is constructed using a specific interlocking scheme. The proposed antenna array’s Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) performance metrics are analyzed.Originality/valueBy suitably selecting the excitation port, directional radiation patterns can be realized. The combined radiation pattern covers 360 degrees. A prototype antenna array is fabricated, and the simulation results are verified using real-time experiments. The proposed antenna is a suitable candidate for shark fin housing in automotive communications.
