Amazonian Robustas are ten new clones of high yield potential with characteristics typical of the botanical varieties conilon and robusta. With individual registration, the new cultivars were developed to be grown together with other clones, with flexibility of composition of the crops according to the preference of the producer.
Field sampling was carried out in Ouro Preto d'Oeste - Rondônia (10 degrees 45'S and 62 degrees 15'W) to evaluate the mycobiota associated with Hypothenemus hampei Ferrari [cuticle, mouth, prothorax (mycangia), gut and feces] and its galleries on berries of Coffea canephora Pierre. Ten genera (201 isolates) were directly related with the insect while five genera (20 isolates) were related with galleries on berries. All the genera identified in the insects were also present in their galleries, what indicates that boring may be an active way of fungi inoculation by H. hampei. The fungi genera were more diverse in the mouth and prothorax of borers, and lower in feces. Fusarium, Penicillium and Geotrichum, with abundance of 55.7, 24.3 and 10.8%, respectively, were dominant genera. In the galleries Fusarium, Geotrichum, Trichoderma and Aspergillus with abundance of 33.3, 29.6, 18.5 and 14.8%, respectively, were dominant genera. The overall presence of Fusarium in coffee berry borer and its galleries) reinforces previous indications of a close interaction between H. hampei-Fusarium. The presence of Aspergillus and Penicillium emphasizes the possibility of "ochratoxin dispersion" by the borer. This work provides the first record of the mycobiota associated with H. hampei in C. canephora. Among the identified genera, Cephalosporium, Geotrichum and Oidiodendrum were recorded for the first time in association with H. hampei and its galleries in C. canephora.
Os "timbós verdadeiros" (plantas do gênero Derris), originários da Amazônia Brasileira, tem demonstrado importância crescente por produzirem uma classe de compostos flavonoídicos relacionados à rotenona, que possuem atividade tóxica para peixes e mamíferos. Neste estudo foi determinado a dose letal 50% (DL50) do extrato alcoólico do pó de Derris spp para três espécies de peixes filogeneticamente diferentes e um mamífero roedor (rato). As DL50 de 2,6 microgramas/ml para Collosoma macropomum (tambaqui), 4,8 microgramas/ml para Oreochromis niloticus (tilápia), 14,2 microgramas/ml para Plecostomus sp (cascudo) e DL50 de 100,0 mg/kg para Rattus norvegicus (rato) denotam acentuadas diferenças entre os valores de DL50, principalmente entre os peixes e o rato. Isto possivelmente é devido a fatores farmaco-cinéticos que se relacionam com as diferentes barreiras teciduais encontradas pelos rotenóides quando administrados pela via oral em mamíferos.
Resumo -O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito do ensacamento de cachos de bananas (Musa sp. AAA), cultivar Nanicão, em diferentes épocas, na produção e no intervalo entre inflorescência e colheita. O experimento foi realizado no Município de Tietê, SP, em blocos ao acaso, em esquema fatorial 2x3, com quatro repetições. O ensacamento foi efetuado com sacos de polietileno em três épocas: 21/5/96, 17/12/96 e 26/2/97. Foram avaliados o intervalo entre emergência da inflorescência e colheita, a massa do cacho e o comprimento, diâmetro e densidade do fruto. A interação ensacamento x épocas não foi significativa em relação a nenhuma das variáveis. O ensacamento diminuiu o intervalo entre a emergência da inflorescência e a colheita na primeira (21/5/96) e segunda época (17/12/96).Termos para indexação: Musa, cobertura de plástico, fruta, qualidade, manejo de cultura.
Effect of bagging bunches of 'Nanicão' banana in the production and in the interval between inflorescence and harvestAbstract -The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of bagging bunches of 'Nanicão' banana (Musa sp. AAA), at different times, in the production and in the interval between the inflorescence and harvest. The experiment was carried out in Tietê county, SP, Brazil, in randomized blocks, and arranged in a 2x3 factorial with four repetitions. Bagging was done with polyethylene sacks at three times (May 21 and December 17, 1996 and February 26, 1997). The interval between inflorescence and harvest, mass of the bunch and the length, diameter and density of the fruit were appraised. No significance was found in the interaction bagging x times. Bagging decreased the interval between the emergency of the inflorescence and harvest in the first and second time.
