The aim of this paper is to reduce the average neigh-bor discovery time and average energy consumption in self organized ad-hoc networks. The rate at which the data is transmitted is high, up to Gbps, in 60 GHz networks. These networks often use directional antenna which provides high data transmissions. But, the disadvantage of using directional antenna is, the average time consumed for discovering the neighbor nodes is high and it also consumes more energy during this process. So, we use Omni directional antenna for discovering neighbors using Wi-Fi band (2.5 GHz or 5 GHz)). To transfer data, mmWave band with directional antenna is used. The results shows that this scheme consumes less time and energy compared to other conventional methods that uses only directional beamforming.Keywords-Directional antenna, neighbor discovery, 60GHz network, mmWave band.I.
