Euselasia eucerus HEWI'rSON est un ravageur de l'eucalyptus au Br6sil. Certains aspects de sa biologie et de son 6thologie ont 6t6 abord6s sur le terrain et au laboratoire --Urte analyse de la distribution verticale des chrysalides et des pontes montre que 80 ~ de la nymphose se fair darts le sous-bois (jusqu'b. 1 m de hauteur) et que les 20 ~ restants se fait sur les eucalyptus (de t4 m de hauteur en moyenne). De ces 20 ~, 90 ~ se fixent jusqu'b. 6 m de hauteur. Quant b. la ponte, elle se fait sur les feuilles d'eucalyptus, avec 75 ~ entre 2 et 8 m. 31,6 ~ des ~eufs observ6s entre 0 et 10 m sont parasit6s par Triehogramma sp., ce pourcentage diminuant b. 12 ~ au-dessus de 10 m. Ce rtiveau 61ev6 de parasitisme dans la nature nous sugg~re l'utilisation du trichogramme pour combattre ce d6foliateur.Le reboisement darts l'I~tat du Minas-Gerais (Br6sil) se fait surtout ~t base d'eucalyptus. Ce seul t~tat comt~te actuellement plus de 500 000 ha plant6s en cette essence. La demande de la part des consommateurs 6tant de plus en plus grande, cette surface devrait tripler d'ici ~t 1980.Les plantations &eucalyptus ont vu apparaitre leurs premiers d6pr6dateurs 16pi-dopt~res au Br6sil en 1967. Pr6s de 8 000 ha ont 6t~ attaqu6s par deux chenilles d6fotiatrices : Euselasia eucerus HZWITSON, Thyrinteina arnobia STOLL, (Lep. : Geometridae) dans les plantations du (( Municipio de Coronel Fabriciano (1))). Une nouvelle attaque apparaR en 1972 dans la m~me r6gion sur pr6s de 5 000 ha. En 1975 nous avons pu constater des foyers de T. arnobia dans le (( Municipio de Curvelo )) t 2) et de E. eucerus dans celui de (( Coronel Fabriciano )).
