Euselasia eucerus HEWI'rSON est un ravageur de l'eucalyptus au Br6sil. Certains aspects de sa biologie et de son 6thologie ont 6t6 abord6s sur le terrain et au laboratoire --Urte analyse de la distribution verticale des chrysalides et des pontes montre que 80 ~ de la nymphose se fair darts le sous-bois (jusqu'b. 1 m de hauteur) et que les 20 ~ restants se fait sur les eucalyptus (de t4 m de hauteur en moyenne). De ces 20 ~, 90 ~ se fixent jusqu'b. 6 m de hauteur. Quant b. la ponte, elle se fait sur les feuilles d'eucalyptus, avec 75 ~ entre 2 et 8 m. 31,6 ~ des ~eufs observ6s entre 0 et 10 m sont parasit6s par Triehogramma sp., ce pourcentage diminuant b. 12 ~ au-dessus de 10 m. Ce rtiveau 61ev6 de parasitisme dans la nature nous sugg~re l'utilisation du trichogramme pour combattre ce d6foliateur.Le reboisement darts l'I~tat du Minas-Gerais (Br6sil) se fait surtout ~t base d'eucalyptus. Ce seul t~tat comt~te actuellement plus de 500 000 ha plant6s en cette essence. La demande de la part des consommateurs 6tant de plus en plus grande, cette surface devrait tripler d'ici ~t 1980.Les plantations &eucalyptus ont vu apparaitre leurs premiers d6pr6dateurs 16pi-dopt~res au Br6sil en 1967. Pr6s de 8 000 ha ont 6t~ attaqu6s par deux chenilles d6fotiatrices : Euselasia eucerus HZWITSON, Thyrinteina arnobia STOLL, (Lep. : Geometridae) dans les plantations du (( Municipio de Coronel Fabriciano (1))). Une nouvelle attaque apparaR en 1972 dans la m~me r6gion sur pr6s de 5 000 ha. En 1975 nous avons pu constater des foyers de T. arnobia dans le (( Municipio de Curvelo )) t 2) et de E. eucerus dans celui de (( Coronel Fabriciano )).
Com a expansão demográfica da Grande BH, seus limites se estenderam desordenadamente, reduzindo assim, cada vez mais os espaços verdes; desta maneira, o "Campus-UFMG" se constitui em uma das poucas áreas verdes. Com seus 4.500.000 m2, possui biótopos bastante caracterizados, que nos permitiram, durante 30 meses fazer um estudo comparativo da avifauna nesses biótopos. O presente trabalho, além de mostrar o número de espécies características de cada biótopo, e daquelas que frequentam mais de um deles, traz também uma check-list das aves do "Campus-UFMG".
Dando prosseguimento ao nosso programa de estudar a avifauna da "Grande-BH", a área da Represa da Pampulha nos chamou atenção por apresentar condições ambientais e ecológicas diversificadas sendo algumas delas diferentes daquelas preferidas pelas aves. A área estudada foi subdividida em três subáreas cada uma delas com características ecológicas bem distintas, onde foram feitas 200 horas de observações. Como resultado temos uma lista sistemática geral, e comentários sobre a presença e o número de aves em cada uma das subáreas.
Nos dias 21 de novembro de 1981 e 22 de novembro de 1982, foram capturados em Belo Horizonte, no "Campus" da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Bela Horizonte, dois exemplares de Coccyzus americanus americanus. O primeiro era fêmea jovem e o segundo, fêmea adulta, ambas apresentando ovário pouco desenvolvido, bom estado de carnes, englúvio vazio e abundante conteúdo no estômago muscular.
O gênero Embernagra Lesson, 1831 com as espécies E. platensis e E. longicauda é endêmico da América do Sul. E. platensis ocorre no sudeste do Brasil, desde o Estado de Minas Gerais até o Rio Grande do Sul, Uruguai, leste da Argentina e Paraguai, enquanto E. longicauda era conhecida apenas da sua localidade tipo, Morro do Chapéu, Bahia. Desde 1971, o Departamento de Zoologia da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) iniciou um programa de levantamento ornitológico no Estado de Minas Gerais. Nesse levantamento, E. longicauda foi registrado para onze novas localidades, distribuídas ao longo da Serra do Espinhaço, que cruza o Estado de Minas gerais de Norte para o Sul.
