Als ich den Auftrag erhielt, einen Gedenkvortrag auf Walther Nernst zu iibernehmen, kam es mir in den Sinn, Umschau zu halten, wer wohl seine bekanntesten Altersgenossen gleichen Jahrgangs waren, ebenso wie wir in diesem Jahre den vierhundertjahrigen Doppelstern Galilei und Shakespeare feiern. Es begegneten mir vier Dichter : der schwedische Nobelpreistrager Axel Karlfeld, der Hannoveraner Frank Wedekind, der Schlesier Hermann Stehr und die Braunschweigerin Ricarda Huch ; ferner die beiden Komponisten: Eugen d'dlbert aus Glasgow und der Munchener Richard StrauJ; dann der franzosische Maler Henri Tuufouse-Lautrec ; weiterhin der Physiker und Nobelpreistrager Wilhelm Wien aus Gaffken in OstpreuBen und schlieBlich der Mathematiker Hermann Minkowski aus Kowno, der einen bedeutenden Anteil an der Relativitatstheorie besitzt, der nur drei Tage alter ist als Nernst und der mit ihm zusammen einige Jahre in Gottingen gewirkt hat. Um es gleich vorwegzusagen : So bunt und vielgestaltig das Gesamtbild seiner Altersgenossen in ihren Werken ist, so farbig und mannigfaltig ist die Lebensarbeit des Meisters. Auch Herinann Walther Nernst stammt aus ostlichen Landen. Er wurde als Sohn des Amtsrichters Gustav Nernst und seiner Gattin Ottilie Nerger am 25. Juni 1864 [*] Nach einem Vortrag [l] anlaBlich der Nernst-Gedachtnisfeier am 7. Mai 1964 in
(Fig. 7).Es is~ hier ant die d)en ~beschriebene Weise mittels zweier Rahmenantennen .der Ort der Sendestation ~bestimmt worden. Nan kann aber aueh umgekehrt vorgehen und unter Benutzung yon zwei ihrem Ort naeh bekannten Sendestatiehen mit einer einzigen Rahmenantenne den eigerven, der geographisehen Lage hack unbekannten Emp~angsort auf der Karte zu ermRteln. Die hervorragende Empfangseigensehaft tier Braunsehen Rahmenantenne hag dieser Antennenform sehon in ihrer ve'rhgltnismgl~ig kurzen EntwicklungszeR ein grofles Anwendungsge~oiet ersehlossen, das in der Zukunft nnd b,ei ihrer weiteren Ausgestaltnng noeh ganz erheblieh an Ausdehnnng gewinnen dfirfte.
