Collisional detachment in oxygen was studied for pressures of about 20-60 Torr and with mass analysis which also allowed conversion rates to be calculated. For O-, delta 1/N (detachment coefficient/gas density) was found to be about 5*10-18 cm2 at E/N (field strength/gas density) of about 50 Td where for O2
-, delta 2/N approximately 1*10-18 cm2. The need for an accurate measurement of the conversion rate for O- to O2
- is emphasized.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
