Par rapport à la méthode témoin (traite-machine suivie d'un égouttage manuel) on a essayé les solutions suivantes :-remplacement de l'égouttage manuel par un égouttage-machine (« double pose des gobelets »).-suppression du massage intermédiaire en cours de traite-machine et égouttage-machine (cc double pose accélérée »).-suppression totale de l'égouttage. Par rapport au témoin, la double pose des gobelets entraîne une perte de production non significative (-z,i p. i oo) et un gain de temps très appréciable (+ 5 o p. ioo) ; la double pose accélérée permet de doubler le débit des brebis traites mais la quantité de lait recueillie à l'égouttage-machine est plus importante, pour un volume total égal à celui obtenu avec la double pose simple. La suppression totale de l'égouttage provoque, pour une même durée de traite, une diminution de i t,8 p. i oo de la production laitière pour des brebis Lacaune adultes ; elle est seulement de 6,8 p, i oo pour un lot d'agnelles Lacaune et de 3 , 7 p. ioo pour un lot de brebis Sardes de tous âges. Par rapport au témoin avec égouttage manuel, l'égouttage-machine entraîne une diminution de z et i, 9 g/litre des taux butyreux et azoté. La diminution est de 4 , 3 et i,o g/litre si on supprime totalement l'égouttage.
