Cycloalkanes were irradiated in the solid phase at 77 K. Post‐irradiation scavenging of radicals by dissolving the irradiated cycloalkane at low temperature (100 ‐ 165 K) in a propane‐oxygen mixture lowers the dicycloalkyl and cycloalkene G values to an extent of 35‐55%. From the Δ G decrease values, we propose that the trapped radical G values be 3.1, 2.7 and 2.7 at 77 K for cyclopentyl, cyclohexyl and cycloheptyl radicals, respectively.
In ref 11 the width of the shoulder Is suggested to extend as large as 1400 G. In this case the result of the analytical fit gives the experimental hyperfine coupling constants as Aj_ = 14.25 G and Aii = 100 G (±50 G), and for the Interpretation of the experimental result either model will do, with or without the 1 s-like cavity center In the As4S6 casket. (39) There Is no decisive evidence to determine which model is convincing,
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
