Forest stand height is an important indicator of standing biomass for management purposes as well as for the assessment of carbon storage. In this paper we assess Intermap Star-3i X-band SAR Interferometry products for forest height estimation. DEM data sets are initially assessed for accuracy, and are then used to estimate forest height.Height is underestimated by 22.65%. Regression analysis is used to predict height to within 12.5%.Reasons for errors are investigated through the use of a simple interferometric model.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
