Introdução. A atrofia muscular espinhal (AME) é uma doença neuromuscular genética autossômica recessiva rara, caracterizada por perda de função progressiva de neurônios motores alfa no corno anterior do tronco cerebral. Neste estudo destaca-se a AME tipo 2 em que os primeiros sintomas aparecem entre os 6 e 18 meses de idade, a criança apresenta atraso nas habilidades motoras. Uma das terapias farmacológicas utilizadas é o SPINRAZA®. Objetivo. Verificar na literatura a eficácia do tratamento com o medicamento SPINRAZA® (nusinersena) juntamente com a atuação da fisioterapia nas repercussões respiratórias e motoras do paciente com AME tipo 2. Método. Trata-se de uma revisão de literatura utilizando a bula do medicamento SPINRAZA®, site INAME (Instituto Nacional de Atrofia Muscular Espinhal) e as bases de dados PubMed (Nacional Library of Medicine), LILACS (Literatura Latino-Americana em Ciências de Saúde) e Cochrane Library, utilizando as palavras-chave "Muscular Atrophy, Spinal type 2", spinraza e physiotherapy com o descritor booleano AND, incluindo artigos publicados nos últimos cinco anos, considerando estudos de caso, ensaios clínicos randomizados e estudos observacionais que abordaram o uso do SPINRAZA® e atuação da fisioterapia na AME. Resultados. Foram encontrados artigos que trazem escalas de avaliação funcional nas atividades de vida diária dos pacientes com AME tipo 2, apresentando aumento nos scores após o uso do medicamento, entretanto alguns artigos relataram a dificuldade de adesão e continuação ao tratamento com o fármaco. Conclusão. A utilização deste medicamento é um método eficaz para o tratamento da AME tipo 2 principalmente quando combinado a fisioterapia.
