Quando refletimos sobre o quê e o como ensinar ciências para nossos estudantes, sejam eles da educação básica ou superior, nos deparamos com uma literatura vasta. Um dos caminhos que podemos percorrer para contribuir com a compreensão sobre a ciência pelos estudantes, é favorecer a compreensão do que seja Natureza da Ciência (NdC). Nos cursos de formação de professores, é importante criar condições para que os licenciandos vivenciem e reflitam sobre essa questão e tenham contato com estratégias diferenciadas de ensino que perpassam essa temática. No sentido de que os licenciandos em fase final de curso tenham um arcabouço de experiências, e que estas, possam mais tarde, ser adaptadas à realidade escolar que estejam inseridos, relatamos no presente artigo uma atividade realizada em uma turma de graduação em química licenciatura, de uma universidade federal brasileira. A proposta de ensino, foi realizada no âmbito da disciplina História da Química, ofertada no sétimo período da graduação. Na presente estratégia de ensino, empregamos de um documentário para abordar um tema e desenvolver competências relacionadas à NdC nos licenciandos. Os resultados nos indicam que os estudantes desenvolveram novas concepções, como por exemplo, sobre a ciência, quem faz ciência e humanização do cientista.
No presente trabalho, a equipe do PIBID Química da Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto proporcionou, aos alunos da educação básica da região, a participação ativa no processo de construção do conceito de polímeros. Para a execução da proposta, foi solicitado aos alunos que selecionassem imagens por meio da internet. A partir daí, atividades desenvolvidas pelos alunos do PIBID baseadas em analogias, modelos e charge foram usadas com o intuito de proporcionar uma ampla discussão sobre simbologia e estrutura em química, ligação química e sobre questões importantes para todos os cidadãos como reciclagem e uso consciente de matéria-prima. No desenvolvimento das ações do PIBID Química, corroboramos com a ideia de que a construção do conhecimento não está focada somente em espaços de educação formal como, por exemplo, as salas de aulas e os laboratórios escolares. Espaços de domínio público são locais educativos em que o estudante tem a possibilidade de entrar em contato com informações científicas, tecnológicas e socioculturais e construir ativamente o seu próprio aprendizado a partir de um processo dinâmico de constante interação entre o indivíduo e o ambiente (Cazelli et al., 2003;Marandino, 2005
