Due to the importance of overall sustainable development, efficient energy management should be as significant as water resource management within every water supply system. The pressure reduction, as a measure for the decrease in losses, not only guarantees less leakage but also minimizes energy consumption. The relationship between energy consumption and pressure in water supply systems has been the subject of many previous studies, mainly based on measurements in real systems. However, a methodology for beforehand assessment of energy savings which occur due to the pressure reduction, has not been proposed yet. The paper proposed a method for the assessment of energy savings in relation to pressure reduction, implemented it on the hypothetical water supply system and verified it on the real system. Results led to the conclusion that the proposed methodology can be considered as a successful tool for better energy and water management. It enables water utility management to estimate energy saving in water supply system in advance, based on the hydraulic model of the system.
This paper presents the assessment of the impact of coal ash and slag from the "Maljevac" dump on the quality of water of Paleški Creek, Montenegro. The obtained results confirm the negative influence of surface and groundwater from the dump on the water from the Paleški Creek. The results obtained by testing of the water samples, collected from Paleški Creek upstream of the dump, indicate that the water is qualified to be used for drinking, after simple physical treatment and disinfection. The results obtained for the water samples collected from the Paleški creek downstream from the dump indicate that the water could be safe for drinking only after the treatment that requires an intensive physical, chemical and biological processing, including some extended treatment.
Original scientific paper Paper deals with the modelling of hydrological processes in the catchment area of Lake Skadar in Montenegro. This lake and its catchment area is one of the most important natural resources of Montenegro. We used an existing model (Mike SHE (DHI)) to simulate the hydrological processes. Its implementation has shown some limitations that are primarily related to insufficient funds of available input data. A particular problem is the lack of data on groundwater regime as one of the key model and water balance factors. However, calibration of the model showed that the results obtained were sufficiently acceptable and that the model can be a good basis for future hydrological forecasts of the basin size. Also, the model can still be upgraded with the new data and results, as soon as the conditions call for it.Keywords: catchment area; hydrological processes; modelling; Skadar Lake Modeliranje hidroloških procesa u slivnom području Skadarskog jezeraIzvorni znanstveni članak Rad se bavi modeliranjem hidroloških procesa u slivu Skadarskog jezera koji pripada prostoru Crne Gore.
Original scientific paper Leakage modelling in water supply systems is a process, which, due to its complex nature, holds more components in itself. For the purpose of understanding the problem, the models for losses are presented, in the way they have been treated so far. Former practice has shown that it is justified to include the impact of the soil, in which the water pipes are laid, in the leakage modelling,. The reason for this is the energy loss of the water flow, which occurs between the orifice and the soil surface during the process of the water movement through the soil. This paper proposes a method for the evaluation of the soil influence, which can be implemented in existing models. Keywords: coefficient of filtration; leakage; pressure; soil; water supply system Analiza utjecaja tla na gubitke u vodovodnim sustavimaIzvorni znanstveni članak Modeliranje gubitaka u vodovodnim sistemima je proces koji zbog složenosti svoje pojave, obuhvaća više komponenti.
