Además de una enorme crisis de salud pública, la pandemia generada por el nuevo virus SARS-CoV-2 (causante del covid-19) ha generado una profunda crisis económica y social; detonando voces importantes que demandan profundizar el desarrollo sostenible y “regresar mejor” en una era poscovid-19. El proceso de reactivación económica pospandemia presenta riesgos y potencialidades que deben ser considerados. Hay una necesidad de generación de empleos y crecimiento económico en niveles más acelerados para recuperar las pérdidas y reducir el sufrimiento social. Cabe reconocer que no se ha evidenciado niveles de adopción de medidas semejantes en lo que atañe a desafíos como el cambio climático, la biodiversidad y la desigualdad; sin embargo, los cambios casi siempre llegan tras una crisis, y precisamente el cambio es el motor de todo progreso humano.

Considerando la agenda 2030 para el Desarrollo Sostenible, la cual establece una visión transformadora hacia la sostenibilidad económica, social y ambiental, e incorporando un conjunto de 17 objetivos de desarrollo sostenible (ODS), con el propósito de poner fin a la pobreza, luchar contra la desigualdad y la injusticia, y hacer frente al cambio climático, el Plan Nacional Decenal de Educación (PNDE) 2016-2026 y el Plan Nacional de Desarrollo 2018-2022 “Pacto por Colombia, Pacto por la Equidad” se constituyen en documentos orientadores de la política educativa, apostando a una consolidación del sistema educativo, cuyo propósito fundamental es garantizar las condiciones para que las personas alcancen su desarrollo integral y contribuyan al desarrollo del país y así lograr avanzar hacia una educación que favorece la equidad, compensando las desventajas socioeconómicas, además, para generar igualdad de oportunidades y lograr resultados socialmente deseables para todos (Ministerio de Educación, 2017).
