Six countries, namely Qatar, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, UAE and Turkey (abbreviated as QISMUT) are considered to play an important role in the future international development of the Islamic finance. QISMUT countries have a majority Muslim population who prefers Islamic finance for their banking needs. QISMUT countries account for 38 million customers which is 67% of the global Islamic bank customer base. The focus of this study is to define similar (or different) international banks using the financial data collected from Islamic banks operating in QISMUT countries between 2012 and 2014. In this context, 56 Islamic banks were categorized in the light of their financial ratios for the period between 2012 and 2014 using cluster analysis. There was also an attempt to identify these clusters using multidimensional scaling analysis. Positions of QISMUT Islamic banks in the multidimensional space were defined using multidimensional scaling analysis. Results showed that Islamic banks operating in QISMUT countries are similar in terms of their financial structure.
This study uses Data Envelopment Analysis for the efficiency measurements while using the Malmquist Total Factor Productivity Index in order to measure the total factor productivity change. This study involves 4 Islamic banks operating in Turkey and 13 Islamic banks operating in Malaysia. Half of these Islamic banks operating in Turkey and Malaysia meet the technical productivity (CCR) value. In other words, half of these Islamic banks are able to use their Total Assets and Total Equities efficiently. It was found that the Technical Efficiency Change (EFFCH) value of the Islamic banks was never recorded above 1 for any time period. It was found that the Islamic Banks are unlikely to reach the production limit.

This study aims to measure the foreign exchange risks that the insurance companies are exposed to. In this context, this study analyzes 7 insurance companies listed in Borsa Istanbul (Istanbul Stock Exchange). The foreign exchange risks that the insurance companies are exposed to were measured using VaR models, Historical Simulation and Monte Carlo Simulation methods. Data obtained from the analysis show the losses that the insurance companies suffer due to exchange risk. The losses calculated using the Monte Carlo Simulation were found to be greater than the losses calculated using Historical Simulation.
