Louvain, Paris, Walpole, Mass., Peeters, 2009, XL-757 p.Il existe déjà un certain nombre de dictionnaires de la Septante, partiels ou complets, dont celui de J. Lust, E. Eynikel et K. Hauspie, récemment réédité 1 , et les deux que Takamitsu Muraoka a consacré aux Douze Prophètes 2 . Mais celui que livre maintenant le professeur émérite de l'Université de Leiden s'imposera sans peine comme le principal outil lexicographique dans le domaine. Le nouveau dictionnaire se distingue tout d'abord par l'exhaustivité de ses relevés puisqu'il couvre non seulement l'ensemble de la Septante, y compris les livres dits deutérocanoniques ou apocryphes, mais aussi les versions ou recensions secondaires ou divergentes attestées pour certains livres bibliques, comme le texte antiochien, la recension dite kaigé (qui désigne un groupe de traducteurs affectionnant cette particule pour rendre la particule hébraïque gam, « aussi »), la version de « Théodotion » du livre de Daniel, etc. Sur le plan textuel, le lexique se fonde essentiellement sur les éditions critiques préparées par le « Septuaginta-Unternehmen » de Göttingen ou, à défaut, sur l'édition manuelle d'Alfred Rahlfs ou sur la grande édition de Cambridge.
