Dentro do que prevê a Lei 11.645/08, sobre o ensino da história e cultura afro-brasileira e indígena, esta última é apresentada neste trabalho como uma temática contextualizada em uma sequência didática para o ensino de Química Orgânica aplicada em duas turmas do ensino médio de uma escola pública brasileira. A proposta está relacionada ainda ao conceito da escola multicultural, que busca utilizar saberes populares correlacionados aos saberes científicos e trazer reflexões acerca da literatura envolvida no tema. A sequência didática prevê a conexão de aspectos da cultura indígena com conteúdos de Química Orgânica (propriedades de compostos orgânicos, e.g. ponto de fusão e ebulição, solubilidade, entre outros), por meio da utilização de recursos audiovisuais, textuais e experimentação. A partir de um questionário auto avaliativo, foram analisadas as habilidades desenvolvidas pelos estudantes, conforme os níveis do domínio cognitivo da Taxonomia de Bloom. Foi possível perceber que o conjunto de atividades alcançou os objetivos de ensino almejados de acordo com o domínio cognitivo, revelando-se serem motivadoras e significantes para utilização em sala de aula. Os resultados demonstraram ainda a eficácia da sequência didática para a interação dos saberes populares com o ensino do conhecimento científico aplicado.
