RESUMO: O objetivo deste artigo é analisar, através de uma pesquisa exegética e bibliográfica, as funções teológicas e retóricas exercidas pela alusão ao Yom Kippur em Hb 9:24-25. Por que o autor de Hebreus trouxe à tona o ritual anual do Dia da Expiação? Que papel o Dia da Expiação desempenha no argumento? Muitos intérpretes entendem que Hebreus utiliza o Yom Kippur como moldura para construir todo o argumento, fazendo uma interpretação tipológica desse ritual. No entanto, esta pesquisa conclui que o Yom Kippur é utilizado como representante dos sacrifícios da antiga aliança para demonstrar teológica e retoricamente a ineficácia do antigo sistema e a superioridade do sacrifício de Cristo. Apesar de haver aproximações teológicas entre o adventismo e o pentecostalismo, o movimento adventista tem feito um esforço para se distanciar do movimento pentecostal em alguns aspectos. Para abordar essas construções de identidades, o presente artigo analisa, através de um levantamento bibliográfico e de uma análise documental, a relação do movimento adventista brasileiro com o pentecostalismo, a fim de entender parte das construções de suas fronteiras identitárias. Para tanto, realiza uma pesquisa em todos os arquivos da Revista Adventista, desde as primeiras referências ao pentecostalismo, em 1924, até 2017. Esse levantamento possibilita a observação do processo de construção das fronteiras identitárias no adventismo, tendo como contraponto sua relação com o pentecostalismo. Ao se mapear as tensões entre diferenciação e homogeneização, é possível perceber que esses grupos, mesmo que involuntariamente, participam da construção dos mapas das identidades sociais. O adventismo reconhece proximidades com o pentecostalismo, mas apresenta fortes preocupações em manter fixas as fronteiras, e isto ajuda a entender o discurso de separação dos dois movimentos (principalmente através da supervalorização do conhecimento e da pregação cognitiva em detrimento ao emocionalismo).
