Palavras-chave:Adventismo; Mídia; Identidade; Religião ABSTRACT: This article analyzes the movements made by the Seventh-day Adventist Church (IASD) in the launching period of the movie "Hacksaw Ridge." The approach of the theme came about through the analysis of some evangelising actions related to the story of the character Desmond Doss, whose exemplary life would represent, at the time, the ideal identity for Adventists. The goal was to explain how Adventists took advantage of the cinematic context in the history of the Christian hero to develop missionary strategies atypical in the face of the common patterns used by the denomination. These strategies broaden discussions related to the use of media in the religious setting, such as HQ's and digital content (which in this case were produced and used as preaching elements by the IASD). The present article intends to show some consequences of the use of the media in the exposition of the gospel, that is, we will discuss, through the example mentioned, some of the communicational processes used in new identity and communicational approaches.
